    3D Covering???

How about this - my friend Ron Storer (RIP) used to cover with base color Ultra and then shoot paint for all the secondary color and trim work. Results were great! Anybody else tried that?

    Welcome JTEC Radiowave

Thanks. It looks like (from the builder's guide) that the fin + rudder and the stab +elev comes off as one assembly. I assume the tail servos stay in the fuse? I'm pretty sure I can get a 90" fuse in my Scion Xb.

    Welcome JTEC Radiowave

Hey guys, how long is the 41% Pitts 12 fuse with the tailfeathers removed?

    Mounting a Tech-Aero IBEC

I’m about to install a TechAero IBEC for the first time, and have some questions: How far away from the other radio components, batteries, switch, etc., should I keep it? Any problems related to over-heating if I wrap it in foam? The board doesn’t really have any mounting holes or brackets, any...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Great flying weather in Nashville today. 60 degrees, winds calm, good guys at the field. Perfect day at the field. I got in three good flights.

    Flight/Maintenance Log

I drove 450 miles Nashville to Mocksville NC for an IMAC contest, got there and found I had forgotten the wing tube for my 33% Carden Cap. Thought I was done, but it turned out another pilot (Mark McClelland) had an extra tube that fit so I got to fly the contest after all. I don't use a...

How did you get or come up with your user name?

When I was a little kid, my older brother flew control line combat. Man, I thought that was the coolest thing ever. He belonged to a club called the "Aero-Nuts". About 15 years ago when I got into my first r/c Internet group, the IMAC list-serv, I took his old club name plus Tennessee...

    A123 charge testing

How is everyone testing their A123's? I've been using them for a couple years now and mostly go by counting number of flights based on the number of mAH's put in last charge. I'm looking for a way to reliably check charge before each flight, but the discharge curve is so flat it's hard to...

    Stab mount screws

Ok, I'm convinced. By the same logic, I should use SHC screws with bonded washers for wing hold-downs also. There's probably room to get to the screws with a driver inside the fuse. What do you think?

    Stab mount screws

Yeah, I've got a set of these, they're nice. Just thinking thumbscrews might be easier. Maybe not.

    Stab mount screws

I'm assembling an EF 88 Edge. To get this into my car, I will have to remove the stabs. I'm thinking about using nylon thumb-screws much like what EF ships for the wing hold-downs (smaller diameter, of course). Has anyone else done this? Any better alternatives out there?

    Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi

Looks great. What is that plate material under the power board? Does it provide some cooling from the pipe tunnel, or is it just cosmetic? The power board is raised up off the pipe tunnel box - is that necessary? I'm assembling a plane with a pipe tunnel (canister, actually) for the first time...

    Elevator set up

15326=9126-uploadfromtaptalk1409966062051.jpg Here's my EF78 Extra with 47* down. I've been flying this setup for 3 years without a problem. If this is a potential cam-over fail, then I've got something new to worry about that I didn't even know existed. What I see (when I'm watching ) is that...

    DA 60 prop choice

From the Falcon website, the 24x9 makes 18.4kg thrust and the 24x8 makes 19.1. However, we've got 3 recommendations for the higher pitch (lower thrust). Anyone have an explanation? I don't doubt anyone's observations, I just find props interesting.

    Savox 1283 servo connectors

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 1283's for my EF 88 Edge. Everything about the specs / reputation looks good, but at the last minute I thought about the connector types. I've been told the splines are Futaba, but are the connectors Futaba also? I know I can mix and match (done it...

let us talk about fuel tank clunks....

I just bought one of the SWB alloy stoppers. The package says for 5/32 tubing. I was planning on using 1/8 tubing - will that work? Related question... Is 1/8 the right size for a DA60?
