    We're Doing Something Right!

I got an older CA Eclipse. Its a combo of a couple pattern planes since my original was laid to rest. YS140L with CF pipe. Been sitting for years because I have gone far away from glow.

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Very True Astro.....except the there are some judging differences between IAC and IMAC (wind correction for starters). But you are right.....very rarely would you expect a judge to give a higher score to a high wing vs a midwing plane. Judging school should also be mandatory to be a Judge...

    3D Splitting Cowls made easy

Are we going to know the weight difference from these and fiberglassed versions?

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

I think the main reason is events are run by CD's who typically also compete. When I ran IMAC events I enforced the rules, so that meant pilot/dash required. Simple, if you don't have it, there was a point deduction that the computer software did for you. Now the 10% rule is more difficult...

    3D Splitting Cowls made easy

I would split the baffles as well. The cap shouldn't make a difference unless you are making it so tight around the cap that any small difference from the split wouldn't make it fit anymore.

CONTEST TIME!! - Custom Sanding Blocks!!

My Meister Scale 102 in FW190D9 in captured Russian colours! It needs some sanding! It is partially built but I've decided to redo the wings, tailwheel section and add the fiberglass gun hatch.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I finally got the contract for my new 24x30 bldg! Too bad I still have 6in of snow on the ground, but it should be gone in a couple weeks, about the same time my permits are approved.

    3D Yak rebuild

When I redid my PAU (BME) ultimate I simply just used an oscillating sander to make holes through the sheeting and foam. Figured the savings was as good this way without all the work and possible structural compromise. I do like what you did though.....

This also works if you pull out a 1/3 WM Cub with a 3W106 on the front. The FOGS love when you take off slow and fly around scale like. Then you turn on the smoke and do some spins/3D with it!

Getting started in Giant Scale RC---Tools and Supplies

Mine has to be a GOOD set of allen wrenches (metric and standard). The kind you see R/C car guys use with replaceable tips! Those are a must have. I have 2 sets. One for home and one for the pit box. I do have a nice set of normal L shaped allen wrenches as well (metric and standard) with...

    Glassing and Painting techniques

good read..... I have done minor painting. Started with Airbrushing RC car body's (lexan). I found a pascha (sp?) single stage was good for that. I learned to paint backward designs because you paint the inside of the body. That has screwed up my painting on outside layouts! I have done...

Just found my new simulator seat.

Not a simulator. These are ejection training seats or pilot training mockups (so you can master switch positions for check lists). If this was a "simulator" it would be far more than $10k. I think you will find everything is fabricated to look real but nothing really turns on except a...

    PAU 30% Sukhoi SU-26

I don't know anyone that had buyers remorse on this plane. It is large for a 50cc so you will typically see folks wishing they went with a 55/60/70 size motor, but I have friends that have flown it on a DA50 and still did all the 3D.

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

I'm a fan of Scale as well and like IMAC. As the CD I always enforced the Pilot figure rule. Even when I had a couple contestants loose to margins that had I not had the rule they would of won (they didn't have a pilot figure). The 10% rule though is harder to enforce......planes like the...

Make that exhaust come out the two ports on the side of the fuse the way Tseres (Tom) did! Also I hope that engine has the umph to swing a 4-blade!. Do you plan to fiberglass it up and do rivets/panels/weathering?

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Sorry, but as a CD for many IMAC contests this idea will never work. Just look at all the "judging" threads there already are about how biased it is for regions etc. Look at the threads about the 10% rule which most planes barely fit the mold for. Then look at the threads about deductions for...
