    RealFlight 6 Models

I just got myself RF6, very impressed so far. I downloaded an add on plane (EF Edge EXP) in 3GX fomat. I imported the file and got the message that it imported ok... but I don't see the plane on the list to select from? What did I do wrong? Steve

FAQ The BEC condundrum: A guide to BEC's and Rx packs

For those wanting to add the extra assurance of dual redundant power supply to the ESC and servos it can be done without using a separate battery and without adding any significant weight. If you have an ESC with a built in BEC, plus a remote uBEC, the standard approach is to isolate the live...

    Spektrum DX8

Just wondering what axtra programming features you would want for 3D? Bottom line though it's all about price. The DX8 has probably the most programming features of any of the mainstream manufacturers at the price point. Your gonna have to pay a lot more if you want anything with significantly...

    64" mxs exp

Just so happens that I have an Ice 50 spare gathering dust:) Given the choice I much prefer high voltage / low current set up.

    64" mxs exp

Thanks Gary, it fits like a glove! Now I guess I'll have to have a word with Ken and see if I cant smuggle a motor over the pond;)

    64" mxs exp

Question for owners of the MXS... Is there enough space in the battery bay to get a couple of 4s 2200mAh batteries side by side? I'm toying with getting the MXS but dont want to buy new batteries unless I have to, so I would like to use the 4s 2200's that I have from my 48" EXPs but wire in...

    64" mxs exp

Though it would be easy enough to to put in a pull-pull if you really wanted. All needed is a couple of crossmembers to mount the servo to, a couple of holes for the cables to exit the fuselage and a double sided control horn... An hours extra work, tops.

Programming and setup help on a Spektrum DX-8

I find the switch-able throttle curves really handy on the DX8 for programming an idle and kill switch (for electric), plus a curve if you want. In the Throttle curve menu set switch to 'Mix' Move the mix switch to the 'hold' position and set all points of the curve to zero - this is now...

    Cool Predator drone crash....fail

Seemed like an unlikely time for the wing to break if you ask me. You had been pulling it round in tight turns without any trouble, that's when I'd have expected a wing to break if it was going to. It all seemed to start to go wrong when flying slow straight and level at high altitude. Some...

    Cold Weather Flying Tips

I find fingerless gloves are good for all but the most extreme cold, and they also keep your fingers warm in-between flights and when installing batteries, setting up the engine etc. The type of gloves with half fingers are best, they only leave the end of the finger uncovered.

    3DHS 58" Edge 540

If the set up was all the same except for the battery... then i'd suspect the battery;) Put a wattmeter on it and see how the voltage holds up under load.

    Motor Compatability

Like Gyro I'd suspect that you might struggle i bit to get proper balance especially on the EF Edge (the Laser would be ok, not sure about the MXS and Extra). A big battery would solve the CG issue but might leave you a little lacking in zip with the small motor having to haul a big battery around.

    3DHS 58" Edge 540

Ok, I hope things do work out.. When you said "but was told there was nothing they (3DHS) could do" I assumed they had got back to you but with a negative response. Let us know how it works out. Funnily enough when I got a 51" Slick recently I was quite concerned when i found that the wing tube...

    3DHS 58" Edge 540

As no one replied I guess it is only me that expected more from 3DHS:confused:

    3DHS 58" Edge 540

Am I the only one to find this a little disappointing, given 3DHS' reputation for customer service?

Question? iCharger 306b vs. 3010b question

Or move to the UK. We have 240V supply. 240V x 15A = 3600W from a standard wall socket:). Downside is it hardly stops raining so you can charge your batteries but you cant empty them:( Steve

Question? iCharger 306b vs. 3010b question

The way I read the specs it can operate on input 'up-to' 50V, but it only needs 36V to max out the charger. Max synchronous output is 2000W. On the input side the current is limited to 65A, 65A x 36V = 2340W.. so 36v should be enough. That's a three lead acids or three server power supplies. You...

Question? iCharger 306b vs. 3010b question

Yep, if you have $350 to spend on a charger then that's the one! Of course like all these very powerful chargers you have to feed it 24v to get rated performance, which might be a limitation if using in the field.

Question? iCharger 306b vs. 3010b question

I want for the 3010b as i had in mind that I could series charge two 4s packs which means you can charge the packs faster as you dont get amp limited. Turns out series charging is just too risky to bother with, it's just too easy to get the balance plugs whrongly configured and burn up the...

    Pilot Yak 19% (53")

You could calculate the CG pretty accurately with one of the online calculators. Maybe a bit late now but something to think of if you have another plane with no CG quoted. http://adamone.rchomepage.com/cg_calc.htm
