E-flite Beast 60e Aerobatic RC Plane, ARF

Well the good news (for those on this side of the pond) is that the model has been in stock in the UK for a couple of weeks. What's put me off hitting the button so far is availability and cost of suitable servos. If I want to go with HV servos matching the recommended servo spec then first of...

    Spektrum DX18

I'd put money on it that the three servo aileron wing option and similar features will make it onto the stock 18 sooner or later. Only time will tell if i'm right but it seems like something that will probably have to be done to keep up with what the competition is offering. Some of the more...

    Spektrum DX18

The standard DX18 will do three (or 4) servos 'per wing' where you have two servos on aileron and one (or two) on flaps. But there is no option for three servos on the aileron directly in the wing type menu. You could easily get around it by mixing a spare channel (or channels) off aileron at...

    Spektrum DX18

The one I recall is that on the QQ when the mix value is below 10% you can adjust to 0.5% rather than 1% accuracy. You would no doubt have to be a very precise flyer to notice it but it's an interesting addition. There are some other differences but as I've forgotten what they are they cant of...

    Spektrum DX18

I wonder if and when some of the QQ programming features will find their way into future DX18 software updates? Guess Horizon will at least leave it a little while so as not to upset those who just got the QQ

    Motrolfly 3615

You might want to put a wattmeter on if running a 15x7. the 3615 is a great motor but it's got it's limits and I think that would be well over them. I'm pulling close on 70A with a Xoar 14x7, so a 15x7 would be well in the 80's. The official spec on Subsonic web site says 14x7 is the limit and...

    Spektrum DX18

Gary, Brilliant minds must think alike (or is that 'fools seldom differ'?) Anyway, I just picked up a DX18 too as an upgrade from my DX8. I've had it just over a week. So far I'm real pleased with it, I don't see myself using most of the channels as I'm stuck with small to medium size models...

Idea! Cheap 'mega power' power supplies.

Power supply arrived. It's easy to see where all the power comes from, this thing is massive!. Its about the same size as four DPS-600PB supplies stacked two wide and two long. The tutorial will be a slow burn as I need to think about how I'll make the electrical hook-ups as the power...

Idea! Cheap 'mega power' power supplies.

Thanks Hosam. To be honest I guess this conversion will be of interest to ony a few people because of all the chargers on the market only the iCharger 4010b needs anything like this much power and also only the 4010b can cope with up to 50v input. I'll be doing the conversion anyway so I'll...

Idea! Cheap 'mega power' power supplies.

So i've just got myself an iCharger 4010b and would like to have a power supply capable of maxing it's 2000W output. So far I've been running a dual DPS-600PB server based power supply (same units as the Feathermerchant supplies use) which works great but is limited to about 1100W. i could add...

    HeadsUpRC FirePower 46 Sport

I've got one on my 51" AJ Slick and it runs pretty cool, even operating considerably 'over amped' when turning a Xoar 15x7. I have the temp probe from my DX8 telemetry attached to the rear of the housing and it never gets too hot.

Extreme Flight School Episode 1: 3D Turns

You are being highly selective with your quotes, which doesn't give anything like proper perspective to what Scott actually says about snaps overall;) In Scotts book 'snaps' and spins are in the same section because of their similarity (note that snaps and rolls are not placed together). Here...

Extreme Flight School Episode 1: 3D Turns

Thanks, that really does help a lot and explains why my snaps are so inconstant.. I'm trying to do them 'old school' with elevator and rudder only.. occasional it works. As you say, in pattern flying if you used aileron you would most likely get zero points for 'cheating'. I cant help with...

Extreme Flight School Episode 1: 3D Turns

Curious on the snap commend, specifically the full aileron.. Isn't a snap supposed to be primarily initiated with elevator and rudder, the roll should be induced by stalling one wing.. No? Not that I'm one to talk because my snaps are rubbish!

    Radio Wars, Part 2

You can program a throttle hold on the DX7 using a throttle to throttle mix with the mix values and offset all set to -100% FWIW The DX8 has multi point throttle curves (2 off switchable) and throttle hold in fixed wing mode

DLE 35 RA Mods- Reed Valve, Bowman Ring, Single Post prop adapter

FWIW.. Better sealing on the reed valves doesn't actually increase the suction through the carb. The reed valves are just a non-return valve, the suction is caused by the piston moving up and drawing air into the crank case through the reed valve (reed valve is open during suction so sealing is...

    3DHobbyShop 51" AJ Slick

I have my timer set at 6:30 with 2200mAh (260g) in the Slick and that's using the Firepower motor which isn't as efficient as the DM-3615. To prevent taking the battery below 3.7v per cell I do need to be on the ground at 6.:30 so I'm thinking about landing after I get the 1 minute to go 'pip'...

    Parkzone VisionAire

+1 The extra connections on an adapter are just more resistance and potential points of failure, as well as unnecessary weight and clutter. It's quicker, easier and much better just to swap the connector on the ESC.

    -= SLiCKNeSS SiCKNeSS =-

NJ, I'm running a Firepower 46 in my 51" Slick, Gary got it for me from Heads Up. It hauls the Slick around with purpose using a 15x7 Xoar. Maybe not quite a DM-3615 but not too far off and worth considering at the price. The 15x7 over amps it compared to the official spec but I've been...

You should try that motor in an EF 48" EXP:veryshocked:
