Article: DOC AUSTIN - Testing: Hi Tec's New HS5070MH Servos

I've got one of the Edges too.. fantastic! I had the same motor in mine but have recently put the DM2820 in another model and put a DM3615 in the Edge. It goes great with either motor but the 3615 is just eye poppingly powerful:veryshocked: The Edge must be the easiest plane to fly post stall...

Fix for HK Slick 360 Wing Rock

Cheap hardware (specifically pushrods) were fixed during the build by dropping straight in the trash where they belonged;). I substituted with ball links on threaded solder adapters epoxied into carbon rods.. they have held up great. I had a nasty wing drop a couple of times, which caused a...

Fix for HK Slick 360 Wing Rock

Well someone had to be the first to post in the Hobbyking manufacturer forum:popcorn: Anyway i know there are a few people here who have the Hobbyking 51" Slick 360. Colour scheme aside (lets not go there) it's a decent enough model IMHO but it's somewhat let down by bad wing rock in upright...

    DX8 or not?

NJ, that was the exact upgrade path i went through.. DX7 to DX8. Personally I'm very happy with the upgrade. After i sold the old DX7 and allowing for the three new rx's and telemetry unit that came in the package the new Tx actually cost me nothing, in fact they paid me to take it off their...

The Hardest Thing To Figure Out

Space, I was like you when making my last upgrade in that I didn't really think I had any use for telemetry. I stuck with Spektrum mainly because I have a micro model that I wanted to be able to fly with the Tx and I had several Spektrum receivers that I didn't want to have to replace. Also I...

    I Need To Vent

A perfect example.. I'd much rather pay someone to brew beer for me to drink than to unpack boxes of stuff from China. And it puts the exact same money into the local economy:D

Help! I suck when I huck!

NJ, You might try reducing throws to smooth out your 'huckin'. I've been flying on reduced throws lately and for most 3d stuff (with the exception of stick banging stunts) the lower throw seems to make life easier. Try maybe 30 deg or so deflection and only moderate expo.

    I Need To Vent

Again.. it's not 'additional' money in the local economy.. it was there all along, you had it! All that's happened is that you gave it to someone else.

    I Need To Vent

Maybe so but don't get pulled into the trap of considering those taxes etc somehow 'additional' to the $2.. they are all taken from it. The $2 is still only $2 but it gets split up and passed around, not multiplied. As I've said several times it was the idea that your money is somehow multiplied...

    I Need To Vent

I'd argue that you do need healthy manufacturing industry. To be fair to the article it said that manufacturing was critical to economic growth but it didn't say growth relied 'only' on manufacturing. Apple may be cash rich but that profit goes to a few. Apple employ only 60,000 people world...

    I Need To Vent

And that illustrates my point perfectly. a quote from the article: The whole focus of the article is manufacturing in the USA. Buying Chinese stuff from a re-seller in the USA is not the same economically as USA manufactured.. not even close to the same, not even the same ballpark. Regardless...

    I Need To Vent

Frank, My 'source' is the product packaguing from castle products. the packaging says: in bold letters: Designed in Kansas followed by in less prominent print: "Components Manufactured in USA, Mexico and China" I'm pretty sure i also read somewhere that in reality pretty much all...

    I Need To Vent

Here's an alternative and possibly better way to support your domestic economy... If possible buy genuine in country manufactured products. Unfortunately as we all know that's not going to be possible very often with RC stuff, so in that case just buy the stuff as cheaply as you can from China...

    I Need To Vent

Gyro, The point i was picking up was that Frank said the benefit to the local economy was 5 times what you spend: That just doesn't stack up when you consider that 80cents of that doller doesn't even 'see' the local economy but goes straight to China. But yes I'm not disputing that a small...

    I Need To Vent

Most if not all Castle products are physically manufactured in China or Mexico. They are designed in the USA but that's about it... I'm not sure about FMA. Lets not kid ourselves here.. almost everything you can buy for mainstream RC is made in China or other low cost overseas locations. Even...
