Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

You might find the 4010Duo a bit of a change regarding the interface. It's quite different to previous iChargers but once you get a feel for it it's better. Charging power is awesome. I've got a couple of parallel charging boards hooked up to mine so I can charge up to twelve batteries (of two...

Omega-130 or Torque 2814 for 3DHS Super Vyper

The new Hacker A30-14L V3 looks like a very good option too. Apparently made in the same factory (and for sure identical internals) to the Torque motor, but the Hacker has a fan built into the rotor to enhance cooling, rather like the Torque 4016T-500 MKII Steve

    ZTW ESCs Q&A

My first guess would be one of the three phases is not connected. If it works with another ESC then the motor side connections must be ok, so would have to mean that a bullet connector on the ESC has a dry solder joint or a bad connection. But if you have checked the connectors already then...

Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

The 3010b will deal with up to ten cell LiPos whereas the PL6 is limited to 6. If you ever see yourself flying more than 6s then the 3010b (or PL8) would be the one. If you never see yourself needing to charge more than a 6s LiPo then no point in paying for 10s capability, the sensible choice...

Help! My 3DHS 57" Extra 330SC has a warped aileron and I need advice.

I'd be very confident of pulling out that bow put by heating and re-shrinking the covering. These open unbraced balsa structures are quite flexible when uncovered, it's the covering that stiffens them up so you can pull them all over the place whan you shrink the covering, which no doubt...

Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

Well even two Powerlabs (despite costing a LOT more than the 4010b) wouldn't match the balance drain capacity of the single 4010b;) Do I want to talk about graphing capability?.. Nope, not really, I want a charger to charge batteries not to draw graphs:D But the iCharger does do data log...

Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

For what it's worth #2.. The iCharger 4010b has a total discharge power of 200W and a total balance discharge current of 2400mA:popcorn:

Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

The balance power is a fair point but in most cases if the cells are fairly well balanced it shouldn't make any/much difference to charge time, should it? I dont think the balance power comes into it on discharging as i don't think either charger balances when discharging to storage (could be...

Discussion My Favorite Charger. Pros & Cons

The PL6 has a higher max output current, 40A compared to 30A for the iCharger. The 306B has higher discharge capability, 80W compared to 50W, so you can discharge batteries for storage quicker on the iCharger. The PL6 has some nice PC connectivity for displaying charging data and for advanced...

    More predictable pop tops

I find a lot of it is about entry speed. My 48" laser is the best of my models at pop-tops I think mainly due to the ballistic vertical speed with the DM-3615. Pop tops are pure violence with the Laser they look and sound just like a blender entered with high power. Having said that my 48" Edge...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

After bragging how my bolts were holding up, it had to happen, i bust a pair of bolts today:o It was a messed up harrier landing. No damage done other then the busted bolts. I'll put this one down to dumb thumbs rather than weak bolts.

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Guess I'm lucky then.. other than the maiden I've had no problem and I fly from fields that are pretty rough. The other thing that causes the bolts to break easily is over-tightening. It's easy to tighten then so that they are almost at the point of breaking just sitting there, it then just...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Maybe I've just been lucky on my landings? First flight was very tail heavy so my landing was less than perfect, which was the one that bust the l/g bolts. After moving the CG forward the rest of my landings have been reasonably good, so maybe it will break when (inevitably) I dumb thumb a...

    Wattaplane/Skywing 48" EPP/PLY hybrid Slick

Just wondered why you guys are changing to wire l/g? Been flying my Edge with the carbon gear and all seems fine. The black nylon screws bust on landing first flight (the black pigment weakens the nylon) but I had some 'proper' 4mm white nylon screws laying around and I've put over 20 flights...

    Extreme Flight Owners Thread

Cross trimming between rudder and aileron can also cause some strange handling. As a first pass visually check that the rudder is lined up dead straight, adjust if necessary. In flight you can check for cross trimming by setting the plane up to fly dead straight then roll inverted. If when...

    Extreme Flight Owners Thread

'Back in the day' if you were breaking a (glow) motor is the usual drill was to use a slightly larger than optimal prop in order to keep the RPM down. It's kinda the opposite to electric. On electric large props put more stress on the motor because they pull more amps but on i.c. as a general...

Article: Member Review: Extreme Flight 48" Yak-EXP

A few more details might help narrow it down. Are only when you open the throttle from a dead stop or is there a lag whenever you increase throttle position, even when the motor is already running? Does the prop 'judder' before spooling up or does the motor emit a screeching noise as it...
