I have the power! ...or do I?

Using a DX-8 for mine at present but built modular , even ran an extra servo lead to tail so when I do upgrade the radio, its an easy transition. JR power safe already in place for it. Why the heck Spektrum doesn't make a 12 ch is beyond me, ill never use all 18.
And agreed dx-8 is fantastic, most of all.. I trust it.

Yea... That would be a good mid transmitter. I think I am going to go with a different RX with 2 or 3 sats... just to be safe and I may skip the ignition battery... but I'm going with the Fromeco 7.4V 5200 batts... they will be regulated down to 6V... (4) HS-7954SH servos for the ailerons... and since the smart fly regulates current I won't have to switch my elevator servos. (Futaba s9157). Once I get to this point I'll make a decision about the rudder, and then possibly ignition battery... but it sounds like I can go straight to the ignition with an IBEC...

I have been hoping for a dx12 for awhile now. I doubt it will ever happen because the dx18 price is so reasonable. I don't like the 18 because I don't need all the extra switches and crap. I have a dx9 and a dx8, my 8 is retired to my flight simulator. The 9 has been good, but I use all the channels on a 35% plane with no extra room for anything like smoke. Jr might be my next stop with the 11

Your argument against it doesn't seem to hold much water. It is a transmitter you like, has the same amount of switches as the DX9. Basically the same features. The biggest thing you are gaining is the ability to control more channels. So basically it fits all the needs you have and is a lot like the tx you already have and is affordable. Seems like a no brainer to me.

To each there own. The dx18 is bigger and bulkier than the 9. I love spektrum, been using it since day 1, and haven't had any problems. No radio war here. I just wish they could do a 12 channel the size of the old jr12x

Between a few people and a lil head scratching , figured out how to do rpm telemetry to a spektrum dx8. Its working on bench but not flight tested yet. are using the t-1000 for temp or volts? Super easy . Cost , if you already have the t-1000 unit is ...$ 9.00

Don't know how far you are with this project. If it were me the 9157s keep in mind at 6v they put out 425 oz of torque are awesome servos. Everyone likes HV but for Pattern and Imac I prefer the system to be regulated for consistency flight after flight. I've used the eq6 as well as some of the local guys I have flown with all with great success. For the Ign I still like battery switch regulator that way its an easy swap if I ever need to switch at the field.

Hey, thanks for commenting! I haven't done anything yet because I'm waiting until after Christmas, but after reading a bunch I think the way it's looking... I'm going to use the Hitec HS-7954SH servos for the ailerons, with SWB arms. They're still high torque and metal, but they're about $40 per servo less... and that's a factor for me. The EQ-6 is already in there and I had one in my Mustang and really like it. For RX I'm going with either a AR9020 with twin satellites or the AR12020 with 3 satellites just for piece of mind. I'm going to use the Fromeco 7.4V Relion 5200mah batteries. And then I actually called DA and asked them about the ignition battery, and they said I could use a 6.6V Life battery unregulated, but that also they do recommend using an isolated ignition battery, which is what I like too. Just prefer isolated systems. So, hopefully I'll be ordering all this in the next week or so.

Cool I believe you can turn the voltage on the Eq6 up to 6.5 Volts which is what I always did. What people forget is we used to fly hard Freestyles with 8411 and 9351 servos two per wing on 35%ers and even 40%ers which only had 130 -180 oz of torque. Its old school but perfect example of a good ole DA 100 with 180 oz servos.
