My bad Joe I looked to quick at yours and thought that was on a 20B as well, so there is a 1.98 pounds thrust and 8.47mph advantage.
No worries, thanks for plugging in the numbers.

That combo must be insane on the Laser if it really comes in 1/2 pound lighter than the MXS. Pretty close to 2:1 power to weight.
 
I was getting a right around 7k that last time I ran the 20B on one of my twins. I have RPM telemetry on it. Also realize that was with a mature twin and this was literally the third time that motor had run, first time on the pipe, with no tuning. I just got the new 20x9 from Patrick whom properly drilled for me so next time out I will put it on to get a direct comparison. I also have another 20x9 that is getting drill to put on the VVRC-40s. This is the time of the year that I fly all my 30cc stuff as the trailer is put away. Also in the spring.

It was nice to have 11 minute flights and land at half a tank versus the 7-8 max I can get on a electric being nice to it. Assembling the gasser took three times longer though and for my setup was much more expensive. Still need to do some tweaks on it before I fly it again.

What batteries is everyone running for the servos
For the MXS I'm using a single 2s 5600. I'm getting some 2s 3300 from YellowjacketsRC to save some weight. I should be able to get 5 flights safely with a single 3300 but I'm going to do 2 flights and recharge to see what I used first.
Should be similar for the Laser

I have 2x 2s 1300 glaciers which is what I usually run in 30cc planes. I am using 2270s which should be more efficient, but they are big servos. I might have to goto 2600s or get 1800s from someplace. The 2600s I have are pretty light though.

[MENTION=271]Enterprise[/MENTION] I should be safe with two Glaicer 2100 2S Life packs (PowerSafe RX) on Savox Brushless servos (SB-2231 R/E x2 and 2X SB 2273 for the A's) and the DA 50 ignition (via the tech Aero IBEC). I know you are the numbers guy, I hope to get 3 maybe 4 flights with that setup. When I maiden the plane, I will note the time, and see how much I post back in each pack. I am still all new to Life stuff so I wanted to ask you (the house expert :)) PS., Sorry to step on your thread.

Which brushless servos? I know there is a LV brushless one they make. You have 4200 mah of capacity running 6 servos and the IBEC. I would do 2-3 flights, then recharge and see what you put back in. With LiFE, you need to get a sensitive battery checker that will go to the third decimal place to get decent reading on this chemistry. There are a bunch of knockoffs, but the one I got is a Hyperion.

Until I lost my 92 last week I had not run into a issue running my batteries down too far. Then again I don't pound out a lot of flights on my gassers in one session typically.

30cc I run 2x 1300s
60cc I run 2x 2600s
120cc I run 2x 3000s

With the Jeti system I know have telemetry on all my RX voltages so I will become more sensitive to the subject. Knowing that I am only getting 7.2Vs will drive me crazy so I will probably recharge and swap RX packs more now.

Hoffman now run 2x BEC pros fed by 3s lipos to get consistent 8.5V in his 2 big gassers. He got the idea from AJ looking at some photos of one of his Laser setups. I see it as another failure point, but if you want the best performance out your servos, there you go.

If you run LV servos, LiFEs are the best. Consistent 6.6V till they die.

I would also guess you are going easy on your first few flights so servo draw won't be super high. Beating my 92 around like a rag doll for 30+ minutes did me in on a single 2600 and you have less going on there with a smaller plane.

The issue is that they put out 6.60V most of it discharge curve. It needs to read 6.604 to tell where it is. It is still not as good as it is with lipo, but at least you can get a general idea.

Just doing a couple of flights and recharging will tell you the most as you calculate your run time and just recharge at a percentage of that. You can recharge them in the plane if you want.

Bottom line is that you have plenty of capacity.

I have one of these knock offs. This place I don't do business with anymore, but there are others and as far as I can tell they have the same chip in them.
