Seems like kids these days are taught that everyone owes them something and if they don't get it then they can cause a problem. As for the kid cussing you rob I think I would have escorted him home. But I also live in a small town in the country where the kids still get their butts whipped and understand what work really is.

All I can say is that nobody has any respect for anybody anymore.....

And If I could afford it, I would just move out of this neighborhood...it has really been going down hill the last couple of years....

Same here. A country boy like me has no place in the middle of the city. Not when it's cookie cutter houses with literally five feet in between. Mine's an older neighborhood so it is becoming affordable to the low lifes. Not a bad neighborhood, but it won't be long before it is. I hope to be able to find a nice place in the country again so I can get out of this place before I snap. Hopefully I can find a little affordable piece of land just big enough to fly my planes and get a full scale in and out. My dream is to have a hangar and runway in my backyard. Wouldn't that be the life?
Josh, I thought about it, but my yard wouldn't have gotten mowed with me in jail. Now if pappy wants to come into my yard and mouth off, then I get to let a little stress out. :D

Agreed! I made a deal with my wife that if I can get her back to Florida when i retire from the mil in 5 years, that she'll let me buy a Cessna. Time will tell

A good old 172 would do me just fine. I'll be married next month and my fiance' loves flying. I've been browsing the ads for a good used 172, but a good friend of mine (31 year old B-52 pilot) just recently bought a Skybolt for under $60K. After flying it a little, I tell my fiance' that finding a good aerobatic plane isn't out of the question, but after talking about them being lousy cross country rides, she wouldn't have any part of it. Yeah, they're loud, uncomfortable, and guzzle gas, but if you can only have one, it'd be nice to have the hot rod. She'd be highly upset if I went and financed my life away on something she wouldn't be able to tolerate sitting in for more than 30 minutes, though. lol. I'll take a 172, but watching the world become a blurr through the canopy is hard to beat. I could get used to doing that daily.

You know.....

It's pretty darn bad when you can't even sit out in your garage/shop and work on a model airplane without having a major problem!!

I was out in my shop building my 70" Velox when a young girl about 14-15 years old came up into my driveway, and said excuse me, then started into a "spiel", I wasn't interested, so I simply said "no"....and she said, don't you want to know what this is about? I said...no....she then said....will can't I show you this.....And I said no..... When she started to say something again, I said, I'm busy, I'm not interested, now please leave me alone......at that time she left.... About five minutes later she and her father came into my driveway and shop, and he starts in on me, saying I had disrespected her. He also said she said I had cussed at her and all kinds of bull. At that time I told him what had actually happened and that while I didn't want to call her a liar, I would just say she was fibbing...at that time she called me a liar, and I then looked her father in the eyes and told him his daughter was a liar. Next thing I know, here come her mother and grandmother and they start yelling at me, and the grandmother said she was on her bike across the street and saw the whole thing (which she was not and had not). I told them to leave or I would call the police, which I eventually had to do. The police made them leave, but I don't know what will happen after this....

I hate this kind of B.S. But, at least she didn't say I had tried to molest her or something....

LOL! Sorry to laugh but this just made my day. Things are so much easier when you are 15. I could have just said "B**** please, I'm busy", and closed the garage door.

Dang Steve, that stinks. Some kids just have no respect for adults these days.

Keep a fire extinguisher handy, Steve. They're unbelievably useful for keeping unwanted people off your property. Usually a good 10-second blast to the face will do it. If that doesn't work, hit em with it. LOL

You know what really sucks about this is the "at least she didn't"....part...because she could have, and it would have been very difficult on you to prove her wrong! Maybe the solution is to keep a camcorder in your garage, and if someone comes up to you again, start the camcorder before you say a word? I guess the other option would be to close the garage door in her face...now you know for next time.

I leave my gym bag in my car at night, and park the car in the driveway. Last week one night I forgot to lock my car...next morning I notice one of the doors is slightly ajar and there is stuff moved around in the back seat, and the glove box is open and sitting on the floor. Thought to myself "at least they didn't steal anything (cause I don't keep anything of value in my car)". Didn't realize until later that my gym bag was stolen! This was an Ogio SS Locker Bag...but more importantly it was a gift from my parents, and it had a good pair of gym shoes in it. Darn.

So yeah, anything can happen...anywhere.

After reflection, I think closing the garage door in her face is the best solution. :)
