Venturing into the unknown... painting a prop.
Feels wrong scruffing up and using rattle cans of automotive paint to do this... lol! We’ll see how it turns out once everything is set up. I’m going to clear coat it afterwords too. Gotta try new things sometimes. So far, it’s working out.... Orange is a little off but not too bad when painted over silver.

Thanks guys! Took a while. Kinda messed it up a bit when lightly scruffing up the paint for the clear coat. But it still turned out pretty nice. Need to wait a few days before polishing the clear coat a bit to clean up the lines.

Worked on my antennas... I’ve been staring at them for weeks before dreaming up something I liked. 1/8” balsa sticks painted black with heat shrink on them and the lower antennas hot glued to the foam tunnel.

Added hot glue to the receiver plugs as a locking mechanism.

Wheel cuffs! First off, my ARF came with two left wheel pants... darn. Talked with Tim at NWRC, who had run out of stock on these. I said I could wait, but eventually would like a set. After a couple days he said he think he found a solution. One was being returned to him due to box damage, and later on he received some replacements. Unfortunately for him and I they sent him generic white cuffs. As you can tell from the pictures, they are smaller and fit terribly. I had to do a bunch of grinding, and since I could not match the Orange very well, I painted them silver and masked of “AK” for Alaska to break it up a bit and create some personality. Used medium CA on the cuff rub strips and it turned out just perfect. Then used welders glue to hold them on. Anywhere there was glue, I scruffed up the mating surfaces with sandpaper.

Wheel pants!! What beauties these are. I’ve had terrible luck in the past with these never lining up or staying on well. These fit pretty good, and was easy to level them. You don’t have to take the wheels or axels off to install or remove them. I used blue locktite on the screws and welders glue in addition to the mating surfaces to help keep everything in place under all the stress they are about to endure.

Keep it up Dude and you're going to get two finished before I can finish my Yak. . . . :way_to_go:
All I have left is engine baffling! Then it's run time and a flight!!! :mario-banana: It's only been three weeks... I even had a few tiny bumps along the way and some bonus painting/glassing items. All of this is made possible for the level of completion SkyWing has put into their airframes. I am very impressed!

Prop polishing!! It’s been a few days, My lacquer has had time to set and fully gas. Used 2000 wet sand paper, followed by Meguiars scratch x 2.0, followed by more sanding, 3m ultrafine foam polishing pad with more buffing compound watered down and presto! I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.

We will see how it holds up in the air. I will need to balance it now.

Is not a museum piece but a fun project, and hoping the silver and orange help show where that big prop is spinning.
