3DHS 92" Edge 540 (Electric Build)

Ok, so I just received my new 3DHS 92” Edge 540 (Custom Covered). This plane is beautiful and I’m not just talking about the scheme. It has been built very strong and light! There are lots of room for gas tanks and batteries.

So I’ll be doing an electric setup on mine, and I’m going to be doing a little build threat on how I am setting up my electronics. I am only going to be posting pictures and talking about how I will be installing my servos, lights, motor, ESC, receiver, and batteries. (If you want to see a regular thread of this plane here is the link http://3drcforums.com/showthread.php?706-3dhs-92-quot-edge-540-!!! ).

My setup will be:
Motor: Hacker Q80-8M
ESC: Castle Creations edge HV-160f
Servos: Savox SB-2231SG
Batteries: 12s 5000mAh (2- 6s 5000mAh running is series)
Receiver: AR12200 12 Channel DSMX Cockpit Receivers (2- 2s 2200mAh batteries for power)
Lights: Aurora Kit (3s 1000mAh Battery)

Since I have not received any of my electronics yet I’ll talk about what I noticed when I was unpacking it and what my first impression was when I was looking it over.

First, the plane was packed into two boxes, one contained the wings and decals and the other contained the fuselage, rudder, elevators, cowl, and hardware. Everything was packed perfectly with no damage at all! Everything showed up and I was not missing any parts. Also nothing was broken or even slightly damaged.

The first thing I noticed was the flawless covering job, the scheme is beautiful and there are no bubbles or wrinkles anywhere. Also there were absolutely zero fractures in the wings and fuse. I found no damage at all.

There is lots of room inside the fuse to mount whatever you need! Also it looks like the motor box is pre-epoxied. It came with nice wingbags for the wings and the elevators. Also I like that it has a split-cowl for easy access and a removable rudder for tight storage and transport.

To sum it all up I am extremely happy with this plane and I found no damage at all!

As soon as I begin to receive my electronics I will start installing them and post my progress!

Ok, so today I received my Hacker Q80-8m, RX, RX batteries, and batteries. I decided to get a Spektrum AR9100 and use 2s 1300mAh batteries for the receiver. I was told that I can get (3) 5-6 minute flights out of them. I am going to start to install my RX tonight and post pics of my progress tomorrow.

The stand-offs for my motor should get here tomorrow and my servos should arrive saturday.

Sweet, can't wait to see how this electric setup works. Our field won't allow gas so this may be an option once I get my skills up. Like your choice of electronics - how massive is that motor :)

Ok, so here is what ive done so far. For the Aileron I used a Spot-On RC 1.5" Black V2 arm. For the Elevator I used a Spot-On RC 1.75" Silver V2 arm. 12s 5000mAh battery placement- (2) 6s 5000mAh batteries. For the Q80 standoffs, I will need to add a few washers to extend it because I need to adjust the cowl.

New to GSN!
You are going to really like this electric setup. I built an EF 91" Extra this past summer using the same motor & ESC setup & slightly different Savox servos (SA-1230SG's) The plane ROCKS and I see no reason why your's won't do the same. Keep us posted!!

Looks great Andy! Thanks for the detailed photos and specs/info...very useful
No problem! I thought it would make it easy since i'm not very good at explaining things lol
