    IMAC hobby getting expensive

Anyone who thinks RC is expensive should try racing for a year. :D

    IMAC hobby getting expensive

Another thought to consider, is that "name brand" stuff gets the tag "name brand" for a reason. Hitec, Futaba, DA, JR, etc, all haven't made their name by simply charging more for a given product. Being reliable, effective, and simply known to work well for the vast majority of modelers goes a...

I guess it is better to go overkill than underkill though. :)

    IMAC hobby getting expensive

I agree with the "overkill" assessment. I recently put together a 104 Slick, bought a used airframe, used DA150, and was flying for under $2k, including new Savox 1270tg servos on everything. No power expander needed, one soft switch for the rx. It's pretty simple to do it for a relatively low...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I understand your question, it just sounded like stangflyer is running an HV servo setup, and still regulating voltage down for the rx.

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Spektrum receivers are good up to 9.6V, no reason to regulate rx voltage down to 5 (I don't know if you use Spektrum or not though..)

    **sticky** Understanding Lithium Polymer Batteries

I charge my lipos at half their max charge rating. Most of them are rated at 5C, which which for a 5000 mah pack is 25A, so I usually keep it at 12A on the big batteries.

    3DHS and ExtremeFlightRC to merge?

I think it would be awesome, just for the simple fact the fanboys AND haters (yes, they exist) from BOTH companies would be slack-jawed and unsure of what to fracas over next. Lol

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Flew my newly built/rebuilt/recovered 60" Laser yesterday. I got it a couple weeks ago, and immediately stripped it of gear and covering, and started from scratch. How I received it Finished (almost... Still needs a red canopy, wheel pants, and a spinner)

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

I had a Busch Light tonight. Depressing, I know. Trying to get a head start on race season starting up this coming weekend, and cut out unnecessary dehydration.

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Limiting throttle endpoints to produce "scale" power doesn't seem like it'll work well.. Most engines won't run smooth or reliably if limited to half of their full rpm range.

Servos, Which one and why, Competition or Weekend Warrior.

Savox will replace/repair servos for one year from date of purchase. A lot of their bigger retailers like Helidirect will replace them for you.

    SOLD! 3DHS 65 Vyper

Selling only because I have an Extra that is more pattern-capable than my thumbs are, so there's not much sense in me having this one. No damage or hard landings. I acquired the plane in a trade with djmoose last fall, and have flown it around 20 times. LPU, will meet within 100 miles of Derby...

Who on GSN hunts whitetail deer ?

Dropped this guy in 2011, I was standing beside a big oak tree when he walked by at barrel's length. I had to wait for him to get past a few steps before I could fire. :)
