Took advantage of the sale at Servo City, got 4 D945TW servos for the ailerons, rudder and elevator and 2 HS5496MH for the throttle and choke.

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I've read recently that some people tape the top of sheeting after gluing and wiping. I tried it and it works, not sure what it does but the people who posted it were well respected builders so I do it now.

Here's a photo I found online of the model, the side sheet and diagonal brace are not shown on the plans. This is really old school, the firewall is 3/4" thick, I suspect the fuel tank also offer some stability due to it's construction and the way it was installed. I think it is a 3 pound...

Agreed, I plan to sheet inside the sides with 1/8" lite ply, The dash and one stringer will be added to the top and evaluate. It is currently as designed which is hard to believe. The outside will get covered with .012" aluminum sheet attached with #0 screws. I hope to get the interior...

Woke up this morning and got the door hinges epoxied in before the grandsons arrived. Cutting hinge slots in spruce is a pain in the behind. They are not perfect but the door opens and closes without rubbing. Need to make the latch mechanism now.

Moment of truth, put the wings on the fuselage today to check alignment, the diagonals were within 3/16" which is close enough, will get it dead nuts with the lift struts, actually the wing tips move quite a bit, had to anchor the measuring tape at the rudder post to get accurate measurement.

Last year I was able to get a 5000# vibratory asphalt roller to roll our field, I hope to secure it again this year. It took about 3 hours to roll the field, then I took it home and did my yard so the grandsons wouldn't break their ankles. Plan to do so again. Did you get what you needed at...

Was out late last night and went flying this morning. Flew the Cherokee three times today, first flights of 2019, all in all a good day just not a very productive day. The field is rough as *ell, needs rolled in the worst way. Got the cabin rear wall installed and made the door. Not sure how...

Thanks. How did you do at Toledo? It's getting smaller every year! This is what I found for the Champ, http://www.truturn.com/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi?p_id=tth2500bcu:110&ppinc=prophubs110&exact_match=on. Didn't know that TruTurn made Cub Hubs, glad I stopped and asked. It will good nice on...

Installed the vertical fin and tail wheel today, also continued to add parts to the cabin area. Still have a few more filler pieces to install before the 1/32" skins are installed. Heading to Toledo in the morning so nothing will get done except parting with some cash.

Well Snoops got to use the drum sander to sand the filler pieces for the rear windows, the back wall also glues to these pieces. My scrap balsa drawer is overflowing so I decided to laminate some 3/16" scrap for these pieces. Put the 3" drum on for this operation.

Got out the makeshift router table and put the radius on the rudder edges. The rudder is 1/2" thick, the 1/4" radius bit was just the ticket. I also used the router to put the radius on the front posts in the cabin. The drawing calls out 3/8" x 5/8" half round, I had no idea what in world it...

Got the four front posts installed along with the rear diagonal dowels. The post are inset about 9/16" at the top from the rib formers. The post are lapped glued to the spar boxes. Once the glue dries overnight, the craddle will be removed.

I have the cabin roof roughed in. From the photo above the trailing edges are screwed to the vertical former with # 2 servo screws, a cradle was made from scrap wood to support the roof at the desired incidence of +1 degree. Once the glue dries, I'll lay the fuselage on it's side and align the...

It is one of those things you can do without but nice to have. The spindle moves up and down when it runs. There are several sizes of drums from 2" to 5/8". I have a 12" disc sander that is used every day, not so for the drum sander. I would put the drum sander and scroll saw in the same...
