Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

It is amazing how well one side of the sticks to everything, while the other side is so slippery. It's a wonder it sticks to itself?

Managed to get the fuselage formed up. Switched from coffee to Miller Lite, currently bending the front longerons with paper towel soaked with ammonia using a bungee cord to pull them together. The plywood is clamped in place to keep the cabin floor straight while the wood is being bent...

Bought a laser level when doing the bathroom last spring, can find so many uses for it. Here checking the vertical and horizontal centerlines are plumb when the firewall is fit into the fuselage sides. In the past this would be a "I hope it's right"

The manual doesn't suggest a specific length, just route to bottom of the plane. Got the left side off the bench. Been thinking about the sharp break on the lower longeron, the plans indicate a butt joint with two 1/4" balsa gussets on each side. Simulated a bend once the side removed and of...

The crankcase is vented to allow drainage, the drain tubing is provided with the engine, the drain is larger than regular fuel tubing. Suspect this is required for bottom end lubrication, recommend 30 to 1 premix.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

We had a very wet flying season last year, grass grew like heck. All the small plane flyers bitched, my response, you need a bigger plane. The spruce arrived today, began pinning the left side down. Ordered 6' long longeron stock to avoid splicing, looks like each side will take 3 pieces of 6'...

Both exhaust pipes are identical so the pipe for the left side was lengthen 7/8" to match the right side, 3 1/2" extensions were added to both. The pipes exit in the scale location and are vertically coped. I ordered a 26"x8" Falcon prop to dress the front. My wood is scheduled to deliver...

Thanks for the list, I saved it so I can find it when needed. Looked at an old thread, back in 2014 the WT-456 and WT-994 were installed. Not sure what was first, towards the end of thread some two years later one person stated his Roto 85 ran fine out of the box, I seen one in a Hanger 9...

Did you increase the size of the ailerons? And what is reason for the sheeting behind the main spar?

I like to make fiberglass sockets for carbon fiber tubes because the size varies so much, plus/minus .025". Are your sockets glued in?

So there must be another socket in the box. The wing tube is quite a bit different from what I'm use to, I think I will but a carbon tube when I get ready to build it.

My tube is 36" long as well, the socket material is shorter than the tube by several inches so there's no way I could make 18 1/4" sockets unless there is another socket in the kit. It is below a cardboard separator in the box and didn't want to take all the wood out to have a better look.

My carburetor is pulse ported to the intake in the fiber insulator between the carburetor and manifold.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

The venturi is rather small on the carburetor, looks like something from a 30 CC string line trimmer. I guess it has to handle 42 1/2 cc per revolution. When I look at the carburetor it is hard the image this engine will swing a 25"-27" propeller. we shall see. I'm guessing the small venturi...

The hinge brackets are milled from aluminum bar with 1/8" brass pin, the cotter pin is from a DuBro giant scale hinge. I was planning to use a 4-40 clevis on the original but elected to use a heavy duty ball link. I'm happy that I made this modification.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I was never crazy about the aileron hinges shown on the plans, a piece of 1/16 aluminum sheet running on a 4-40 screw, just seemed that these would develop slop in short order. About a week ago was reading a post on how to install C. B. Associates strap hinges and I remembered that I had won a...

About 1 inch, just lay it between the core and sheeting, I would image that 1/8" would work as well.
