Could be worse, I've had my own business for 33 years and the last two months are the slowest I've ever had. Plenty of time to work on airplanes, but don't want to spend a dime on them right now.
Looking for the "that sucks" button, but can't find one. What is driving the change?

I have a small auto body shop and when you combine the insurance companies steering work to their contracted shops and the sudden change in the last few years in the shall we say demographics of the area it adds up to a sucky few months.

That's a bummer. Hope things improve for you soon!

Wings:
LE TE of ailerons glued on. Hinge holes drilled, servo boxes and control arm supports cut out and glued in place. Need to bevel the hinge line and finish capping all the surfaces. I did make a pretty good boo boo that resulted in an aweful lot of cussing. Didn't realize it until I started drilling hinge holes and "somehow" a couple of the hinges lined right up with the servo... Apparently, on the second wing I cut out the servo boxes on the wrong side of the line. At least they were on the correct side of the wing. Hey, they were laying together, I just moved them to the same side of the line. Need to remember mirror image! LOL. Cut them out and moved over, used the pieces I removed as fillers for the other side. See pics below. Also, edge of outside of JTEC servo boxes were set at 2" from edge of TE. Seems like a 2 1/2" turnbuckle should be just right. Control horns were spotted for 1" servo arms.

Horizontal Stabs and Rudder:
Control arm supports cut out and glued; spotted for 1" servo arms on elevator and 1 1/2" arm on rudder.

Fuse:
Glued a couple 3/8" balsa square under cross-bracing of fuse under the hatch for more rigidity.

Travelling this week for work. But I did get some "real work" accomplished last weekend.
Wheel pants are mounted. Cowl Ring is glued in. Throttle servo located in bottom of motor box. Thanks to @Terryscustom for his great Viper build thread on flipping the DA carb arm around! Started lining out the canopy on the hatch and mock up of instrument panels and pilot. Trimmed the hatch back - need to finish off edge of hatch under canopy. Also, started repair on the cowl that UPS damaged. I opted for the 330 cowl as a replacement, but it doesn't have quite enough room for my 90mm drop headers in the front. So going back to the 300 cowl. If I want to use the 330 cowl in the future, all I need to do is a fab up a custom drop header for the forward cylinder. Maybe a future project...

Still contemplating how to finish of the inside of the hatch. Don't really want to paint it, but if I do, I think it would lend itself to having to paint inside the fuse as well. Not really excited to do all that. What do you all do about painting the hatch under the canopy? I want to leave the bottom of it open for visual inspection purposes and not adding needless weight.

Painting the fuse inside is the one thing I semi regret, it looks great but added almost a pound. Suggest sticking to old school rules and using thinned epoxy to seal firewall and tunnel areas only. That said, painting really adds to a finished look on the inspection bays when assembled and on the flight line.
