Man that looks good clean and all came apart with no problems. When I see how you did it and the out come I am sure going to give it a go. It is so much easier to work with a split cowl. Nice work.
I was a little worried about getting it apart, but it worked out fine. I was also worried about resin seeping out the cut and getting on the outside, but the 1/2" fine Lines tape I masked each side right on the line with worked awesome.

Watch @Terryscustom 's videos in the thread in the link I posted earlier. It's loaded with good info.

Oh hey, wait a darn tootin' minute. I just remembered, I have a test subject cowl I can practice with. Remember that "Brand New" cowl that arrived one day before the 212 came back from AI? Yeah, that one! The one that had 1 complete flight and one complete crash. Doah... I will use that to try Terrys technic on. I highly doubt I will be able to do as professional of a job as Doug, but I am going to give it a whirl.

I finished up the cowl tonight and started on the baffling. I'll post some pictures of the baffles tomorrow night.

By the way, what bolts/screws did you use? Do they have a bonded washer behind the head to protect the paint?

They are stainless 4-40 button heads that I colored with a Sharpie. If you look close at the pictures, in one shot the have no washers and in the other they have small nylon washers. I haven't decided what the finished product will be. My buddy Tony never runs washers and the always look perfect and never come loose. I ran nylon washers on my Carf Extra and they would loosen up now and then.

Hey, that's the same screws that I use for my cowls. But I haven't gone so far as to color them. I have found for me that if I don't use the washer, for whatever reason the screws always seem to work themselves loose. I started using miniature bonded washers like what I have on the 260 and the Sukhoi and it seems like those screws never ever come loose. Plus I'm never gouging my paint. I like your idea of coloring the heads to match the paint though. That looks really cool.
