Yes I think the Gyro really comes into it's own on smaller aircraft with windy conditions. Even on my Slick Pro it makes a big difference. I don't use much gain, but what little I do use it makes a big difference on windy day's. Precision flying on a windy day is not a problem at all.

Very interesting.... Might have to pick one up to play with on one of my electrics......

I can't speak for the gyro you are looking to get, but for me I run the Cortex and it works flawlessly. Very easy to install, configure and run. Although it is pretty pricey @ around $260 or so. You can check it out here bro HERE

I have the Apprentice S as well and it's fantastic in wind for beginners and basically lands itself... It makes for a very positive first flight for noobs! I really enjoy it myself as well when I just want a chill, relaxing flight.

I agree... Kinda fun taking it out and flying inverted and get it all out of whack then hit the "oh crap" button and watch it right itself. It is an amazing little airplane. I have had kids as young as 5 fly it and as old as 85 all with the same success. Great fun to just putter around with and do touch and goes.... As you say just chill and have a relaxing flights.

My slick Pro basically lands itself and it doesn't have a gyro!! :veryshocked:

LOL come on up here and fly it in the Columbia River Gorge and see if she still basically lands itself.
Seriously though, your right this plane is awesome. In fact Im going to take the cortex off my Slick
and use it on something else. It really just doesn't need it.

Yeah but it wasn't getting hit by 80 MPH winds either. Theres a reason the gorge is the number one place to go wind surfing bra.

Holy cow what a night here in Eugene! We had a crazy storm last night with huge lightning, thunder, sheets of rain dumping from the sky and huge wind howling all night! One lightning strike was so close to the house that the whole house shook for 5 seconds! It was scary!!!
