With all the talk of local law enforcement going to have the burden of enforcing this pile of regulation I don't find it funny, amusing or even entertaining that both a Foley Police deputy and Baldwin County Sheriff's deputy made it a point to stop and observe the activity during our club meeting last Saturday. Pretty much confirms what @Bill Safrit said.

I have heard that the people who fly the ultra lights don't have to be registered. Is this true or not? Just asking.

True....and this is a perfect example of the absolute idiocy of the FAA.

We did in southern minnesota at our motorcycle events. The neighbor who had a ralley sport ultralight would fly recklessly over the treetops where we were having our event and do loops over us. It happened at least 5 times. Finally the local sherrif who was also in our events gave him a talking to. He is probably a drone pilot now, if he is still around....

There is also a guy that flies out of our flying field with a powered parachute. He decided to fly over a power plant smoke/steam stack and the heat deflated his chute. He did a free fall untill his chute re inflated. Then continued over the second stack where it fell again. This time it re inflated just as he landed in the power grid. He was lucky the metal frame shorted the system out before he was a crispy critter.
