Hope to get on the mounting part this weekend, but basically it's just plywood pieces with blind nuts hooped on the inside and 4-40's with bonded washers on the outside.

Big step for me...........split/cut turned out pretty good. Will glass in the lip tomorrow evening.

Well, my first attempt did not go well! First, the epoxy resin stuck to the top half of the cowl despite the fact that I used PVA mold release. Second, the epoxy seeped under the blue painters tape onto the paint of the cowl. So now I am committed to repainting my new cowl and reattempting to split the cowl. Not fun!

Bummer...........sorry to hear that.

I didn't use any mold release on my top half but opted for some 2" clear packing tape. I probably put 1.5" on the inside top half and then wrapped the extra 0.5" over the outside. I also wiped the clear tape with some cooking oil.....buttered flavored PAM......ha. Then I taped the two halves together following Terry's instructions the best I could.

I'll know in about 30 minutes if this worked.......hopefully the two halves will separate.

Let me know how it works, I am going to let it set overnight and try again tomorrow using the tape and pam method if it works for you. I don't mind painting, just did not want to if I didn't have too.
