74" Edge 540

I just finished mine about three weeks ago went back and forth on gas or electric. I ended up going electric motrofly 4330 400kv on 6s this has better vertical performance then my pilot rc yak 26% with a 35cc on it. Im glad I went electric but I think I may put this 4330 in my Velox and get a 4330 wound for 8s for the Edge as this plane will need nose weight. Im running a 2s lipo for servos and have it up in the front of the plane and it still a little tail heavy with gens ace 6s 5300 all the way FWD @ 760g. I think with two 4s 4000 will be 860g Im not sure if you would get more power out of the 8s or not. On the motrofly web page it says 2700 watts on 6s and 8s. I was getting 2300 watts on 6s
Are you running pull pull or tail rudder servo?

yes pull pull

Im running a 19x10 Xoar getting 2300 watts peek with a motrofly 4330 400kv ESC is a ZTW 120HV

Prop up... 20x10 for sure!
I've got the 4325-450 spinning a 18x10 on same ESC, and producing more power than your bigger motor.
Throw some more prop on there, that motor will handle it fine! ;)

two gens ace 4s 4000 are the same price as one 6s 5300 Im getting 7min of mixed flying with 20% left in the battery

I like these for 4s4000 power:

Great price too... And yes, a few bucks less for two compared to one of these (what I have):

What do you think about the DM 5320 330 kv instead of the 4330 on 6c. Would it add a bit more nose weight

That is actually same motor (different wind) I had on my first 74" Edge.

I think the 4330 is a better 3D motor due to the concentric rear bearing that the 5320 doesn't have.

The plane will be ok with 5000-5300mah batts and a 4330, be about neutral with packs 1.5"-2" forward of the wingtube, I've done it.

If I was building a new one on 6s and buying batts, I'd try a 6s6000 pack like this one:

Batteries are little warm with a 19x10 in this cool weather do you think it would be to hot in the summer with a 20x10 also are using the stock setting on your ESC and what brand of batteries do you run

Awesome. If I did go 8c is there a size that I could use one 4c in the 51" slick? This might be a dome question but do you think 4c x 2 2650 mah is to small for the 74" I know it would be very short air time but I have them.

Stock setting, glacier 6s 5300mah 30c and 6s5000mah 40c.
Packs are barely warm to the touch, barely.

No 4s size that will work in the 51" slick and the 74 :(
If you had enough to run 3 of them in series, you MIGHT be able to use 12s 2650, but even those might be too light.
