91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread

First off check out this box... SupaTim said this thing was boxed well... he wasn’t kidding. Double boxed and the inner box is super thick cardboard. Tim said he usually likes to throw stuff in the box, but with how much effort it takes to get to the inside it was easier to send another box with...

The I'm NOT going out flying thread.

You guys hear that DRACO did a ground loop on a crosswind takeoff? Wings busted, gear folded, and props ground off. Everyone was okay. Mike had his wife (who broke a nail in the process ha ha), and a friend on board. I am glad to hear how humble we was about the whole incident and used his pilot...

Awesome!! :welcome: Hope to see some pictures of your build as well! Servos are expensive no doubt, I got a used set I found online that are 100% overkill. A $70 servo is the baseline price for a Metal Gear, Digital, Coreless, High Torque Servo. It really depends on a couple main factors: Flying...

    Hello guys from Italy !!

:welcome: I'm 1/4 Italian! Went to Venice and Lucca for about a week this spring. Loved it! Lots of vino around and cheap too, Although I tried several bottles, I had little idea what I was even buying ha ha ha! California wines are my go to here in the US. -Nick

    Yippee! What the postman brought

The reasons I chose the SkyWing was based on many likes and wants that the ARF had to offer for my personal interest. Color Scheme was a huge want. I like an aggressive airframe that can roll with the punches and it felt like it offered everything I was looking for. Integrated carbon structure...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Its great stuff, takes a bit of time to fully set up. They make different types of cure time and viscosities to consider. The 1/2 or 1/4 would be the way to go (set up time 1/2hr-1/4hr) and wait a day or two before using. A or B stand for viscosity, A would be the brushable thinner stuff. B1/2...

Got my EPA set on the throttle for idle. Purring beautifully. I didn’t have time to tune the engine properly, but it runs pretty decent from the factory which pleasantly surprised me!

Yup, shes getting heavy. Keeping in mind that the huge tires, gear, and 55cc engine contributed to all of that. Flight testing will be interesting indeed. I did not put on the LE slats.... yet. I'll play around without them first.

Now that the plane is complete. Did a hang from the wingtube to see how she sits. Flight level. Wing struts installed with no problems. Stuck a single A123 in place until I get my 2S LiPos in. Plane weighs in at 20.76lbs w/out fuel. Next step is to run the engine And of course wait for my batteries.

Another defect I came across is the foam on the undercarriage has a crack. Anyway to fix this? It’s really hard to access, but I would like to seal the crack some how. It’s hard to see I know, but easy to see it was forced along the former and the crack is fwd-aft in the center.

Figured out a way to setup my antenna wires. Balsa stick with some heat shrink tightened up around a Allen wrench about the same size and then glued in place. I like it.

Got my 2” arms from NWRC in. Using the 1.75” holes. It took me a while to get both elevators set up. Adjusted my end points 50* up 45* down for high rates, 30* up 25* down. Well see how it works out.

Epoxied a new flap hinge block in place, for the one that piped out of the wing. After hearing a report of the wing pins coming unglued and falling out, can see why. They are put together pretty sloppy. The sandwiched balsa/ply at the wingroot has gaps and found a couple cracks. So went through...
