Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I just did some calculations based on 1220 pound gross weight full scale Cub, the lift struts are carrying 1080 pounds of the lift force while the center bolts are carrying the remaining 160 pounds of lift. Of course this is at level flight. There is also a compressive force on each spar of...

Look here. The structure is formed by the center support, wing spar, and lift struts, the rest of the structure in the cabin area is window dressing.

That's looking real nice. I had a job over the weekend where a larger lathe was in order, was thinking about your lathe while the part was spinning. Had to remove the DRO to make the part fit.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I went out on Saturday, 15 MPH winds, Weather.com said 7 MPH when I checked in the morning. Had to fly anyway after driving a hour to the field. On the second flight I hit a hole in the runway made from skunks feasting on grubs. Stopped the plane dead and bent the landing gear back. Can't...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I have found it easier to put the Champ on the nose while accessing the interior. The batteries and switching under the front seat. I enjoyed following Merlyn's builds as well. There is a fellow over on RCG rebuilding his Starship, don't know if you had seen it? He is taking pounds out and...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Another trying day at the field with the One Design. Checked voltage coming out of the IBEC, 5.4 volts open circuit, decided to measure the loaded voltage, 1.5 volts. I bought a spare with me, tested it open circuit, 5.9 volt was the lowest setting I found by moving the jumpers. Started...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

I use Viton for everything, $5 a foot but is worth it. After seven years the fuel tubing in my Cherokee still looked like it did on day one. Good catch. That's a days work putting three planes together and breaking them back down. Is your grass normally that brown this time of year or is it...

Had the One Design at the field today. Didn't get it running, no spark from heel boys! Not bad for 11 years!

That is the nameplate, the diagram will show coils and wires, look behind those wires.

Yes the formers are on sheets with the wing ribs, stabilizer and rudder parts, they are 1/8" balsa sheet. The firewall is only 3/8" plywood not cut with any other part. The wood arrived today.

Behind the wires there appears to be wiring diagrams for the different voltages. Somewhere on the motor there will be a drawing of 220 and 480 volt connections if it is not there.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Tell me to go away! I'm guessing you have 220 3 phase and the motor is wired for 460/480 3 phase. Have a look at the 3 phase 6 wire diagram. https://dealersindustrialblogdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/6-lead1.jpg

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Do you have the motor wired correctly for your voltage? It is a three phase motor, if the windings are not shorted to ground (Don't expect since it didn't flash!) and the windings have continuity (Possible one of the wire leads was pulled from the winding wire) there not anything else to go...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

Ordered the wood for the replacement build this morning from National Balsa. I emailed them a while ago and ask if I could purchase the 3/8" laser cut firewall only due to an accident, they sent me one for free, great people to deal with. I still have about 50% of the original laser cut kit...
