Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

One of the areas that was hanging me up was the wing tip. I got that figured out, I think! I also used 2" sheeting for the bottom leading edge sheeting and butted it up against the back of the leading edge, instead of overlapping the leading edge. With the curved bottom of the ribs, I believe...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Slow progress as I'm trying to figure every thing out as I go. I built some doublers for the servo rails, put a couple gussets along the trailing edge. I also installed a ply backer on the leading edge where I might install a light kit. Went all the way out with the sheer webs, as the bottom...

    Here's the wing bolt method.

A little update. Glue is applied!

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

It sure has turned here in Eastern Idaho! I did a dry run on the ribs, just to make sure I've got all the holes drilled that I need. I'm going to go ahead and make the top of the wing tip flat with the top of the wing, as the plans indicate. I think I'm ready to start gluing! I also cut some...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Yep, we had some sub zero temps last week, and winds have been unpleasant!

Thanks for posting that! It looks like the last rib is kind of in the middle.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Need a little help on the wing tips. Not a lot of info included. It seems that the last two ribs are supposed to be level with the top of the wing, though they are smaller ribs. But I'm thinking that the last rib is supposed to be some where inbetween. You can see that I've used some scrap balsa...

Did the same for the fuse formers. I had to drill out the rear dowel location as well. The factory punch must have been a little weak that day.

I also went ahead and drilled the holes in the root rib for the servo wires and the wing bolt.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Thanks Tony! It's supposed to have some, but I'm thinking of doing a flat wing. If I add dihedral, I'll have to wobble out the bottom of the wing tube holes once I can mount the wing up to the fuse, to properly align them. I think it would be about an 1/8" down on rib 5, then gradually smaller...

Had to make a different jig for the cabin part, to drill for the wing tube.

Built a jig and got started on modding the wing ribs for the wing tube.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Getting some of the wing mods figured out. I'm going with one extra rib on the ailerons, and flaps. The wing will also have a wing tube extending into the 5th rib. I'll probably remove the forward dowl, since I'll be using a wing tube. I'm also switching rib #2, " ply" with rib #5, balsa. Flaps...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Rudder is about finished up. Just need to add a horn mount! I did use 3/8 X 1/2 balsa for the leading edge instead of the supplied 3/8 X 3/8 balsa.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Elevators completed for now. I'm not going to join them until I figure out if I'm going to run one servo or two!! I also cut another E3 and sandwiched a piece of 1/8" balsa in between the two and made a solid 3/8" piece for the horn mount. You can also see the amount of plans stretch in the last...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Agreed!! This will not have enough power to hoooover anyhow! but touch and goes from knife edge slips keep things interesting!! In tight hammer heads with touch and goes are fun as well.
