    throttle sensitivity on a dx8

You can use the throttle curve function to add any response curve you like to the throttle. The usual way to do it is to use a 'reverse exponential' like curve so as to give a more proportional power response to stick travel. A standard linear curve on throttle results in most of your available...

rpstar, The other way to get more movement is to simply increase the travel in the programming of you Tx;)

    The Pop Top

Funny, I used to have pop-tops nailed but lately my timing gas gone off and half the time the plane ends up doing and end over end tumble (almost like a waterfall) rather than rotating on the yaw axis.. It looks quite cool actually but is annoying that I've somehow lost the knack. Last time out...

    Alert! Pilots Guide.....by Scott Stoops

ok.. I got my name down against one of the copies. Seems that the ones Scott is selling are 'seconds' that were slightly damaged during the binding process. Guess he didn't think about them when I asked last time.

    Alert! Pilots Guide.....by Scott Stoops

Guess you must have asked nicer than I did.. I PM'ed him a while back asking if any copies were available and he said no, and no planes to re-print in the foreseeable future.

Fly Low In "Middle East" --Joe flies for the Prince of Dubai"

Yeah, in the middle of nowhere in Kazakhstan. Pulled up at the side of the dirt road to Tengiz oil refinery where an old hag in the shell of what looked like a Russian clone of a VW camper van was selling camel's milk from a old oil drum. The drum had a foamy head and was bubbling slightly, she...

Or a camel;) Get a female camel, you haven't lived until you have sampled fermented camels milk:eek:

    Hangar 9 Toledo Special

Why not just move the pushrod to a hole that's further in in the aileron control horn?.. that's why they have a range of holes. Or does the pushrod hit the slot where the servo arm emerges? BTW.. you said earlier that it had a symmetrical airfoil.. Is that really the case? Seems like an unusual...

    coupling

Coupling is an interaction between controls across the different axis of freedom. In principal each of the primary controls on a plane effect one axis of freedom: Elevator controls pitch Rudder controls yaw Ailerons control roll In practice it's not quite that simple. What you...

Fly Low In "Middle East" --Joe flies for the Prince of Dubai"

Jealous... me? it's a fascinating place, have fun. Do you know where about in Dubai you will be flying? One of his camel racing circuits might make a good venue, providing there are no camels running at the time!

Ahhh,, that's Sheikh Mohammed's son. I guess $5000 is loose change for those guys. I'm surprised he didn't get you over there to give him some personal tuition.

    Radio Wars, Part 2

I'm not so sure that the 'chip' itself will be so more expensive to make.. Seems to me like it may just be marketing strategy as in pricing to suit the intended market. Clone manufacturers being in it for profit will also price their product at a price point that that is somewhat below the OEM...

    Picking a power system

Robin, I'd guess they originally arrived at the recommended motors by experience and by test flying. Once they came up with a system that worked well for a certain size/weight/type of model then for subsequent similar models that same power combo would be the starting point for flight testing...

is there different versions of the dx8?

Yep, they all have the 2048 resolution and 11ms frame rate, you need a suitable Rx and digital servos to exploit it though. The early version of the DX8 were subject to a couple of service bulletins which potentially may require the Tx to be returned for updating. It's worth checking the 'PID'...

    Radio Wars, Part 2

Thanks for the explanation. I'm still slightly curious on why they don't just settle on one 'best' technology (probably FASST / FASTest). It's hard to see why it would increase the cost significantly as it probably only boils down to a small difference in actual hardware. Or at least they could...

    Radio Wars, Part 2

Yep, the orange seem fine to me too. i have one in my HK Slick and by flying buddy has a couple in his models and they have been faultless. Regarding the Corsair.. Was that the Parkzone version?.. That would be the original one with the woefully inadequate linear BEC in the ESC, now upgraded in...

    Radio Wars, Part 2

i know it's 'radio wars' but even so, I do try to stay objective and (reasonably) balanced on these debates. IMHO personal opinion presented as fact doesn't add much to the discussion (e.g. 'brand x has a crap link'). No system is perfect in every respect. Spektrum have had issues in the past...
