The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

Necessity is the mother of invention ;) I have never seen it done that way but it looks like it worked out great.

Excited to hear about it :D

Ok so you could get more power on 2s by putting a larger prop on if your esc/ batteries can handle the extra few amps.

    Griffwerks MX

Interesting... if you don't change props you are either over-amping on 3s or you could be getting more power on 2s.

Nice job lightening the landing gear. I think it looks cool. I guess the extra drag could end up affecting things... my first impulse would be to think the effects would be negligible... but you never know until you try. An easy test would be to just put packing tape over it and see if it changes.

    Griffwerks MX

So you change props as well between indoor and outdoor flight?

Nice tip. Im pretty lucky here. Plenty of old guys but most of them are fine e with 3d flying. Maybe it is just that there aren't a lot of us that do it and the ones that do are respectful of the other pilots.

It looks like you just need to find a hinge tutorial to follow. I think those hinges are fine. They look the same as the ones that come pre-installed on the Aerobeez planes and I have not had any trouble with them. They function fine and when glued in with epoxy they are way stronger than a...

AKfreak... use the robart hinges... you won't have good luck with CA hinges on the bigger planes. The robarts are pretty easy to install... some like to use gorilla glue. I prefer 15 min epoxy. I don't really trust the gorilla glue. Your mileage may vary. Before you glue them be sure to put...

I agree it is sad when someone misses an opportunity to fly because of winds under 10mph. But... my opinion is that everyone has different comfort levels so while I would encourage them to toughen up and try... ultimately it is their call and I'm not going to judge (at least not out loud :p)...

I have had both styles of canopy attachments. On a plane this size I am a lot more comfortable with the bolts. Either one will work fine though. I recommend trying these bolts out for a while. I think you will find they don't add much time to a battery change or gas fill-up. In the end, it...

    Aerobeez 26% 74" Slick540 Build, Maiden Log!

I wanted to go out and see what needed to be done to my setup to get more axial rolls... Alas, it was too windy for that kind of tinkering. The poor slick never got unloaded from the van. I got some longer 1.75" arms for my elevator servos. The geometry works out a little different on this...

Haha I was sure I'd catch some flak sooner or later :) I suppose I could have gotten my stuff out and flew just on principal but I was too lazy if nobody was sticking around. My buddy Brigg had another commitment... if he was there we would have flown for a few hours for sure.
