I got the spacers cut down, motor mounted, and managed two flights on the new motor on Sunday. Plane flew great even in 20+mph winds. Motor does great, but it was cold out and the motor still came down warm, which is surprising for a Motrolfly! I'm pretty sure I need to modify the vents for...

Yep, I built one of those as well (G.P. I remember interacting with you on that SA Edge Thread) ;) (BTW that was a fabulous covering job on that plane) Great kits, but yeah, pricier than an ARF, final price higher due to covering, etc., and in this case, the tail surfaces needed some "beefing...

71" AJ Slick Building, Flying, and Questions

I'm not worried about dead sticks...if the plane is tuned correctly, it won't do that. Also, I have a GoldWing Su-26 30cc plane (with a DLE-30) that I've been using as my "learning platform" for gassers :) Also, I'm grateful to the experienced 3D gasser pilots in my club for helping me learn...

I'm in a similar situation Joe, I've got a 65" Vyper which is my biggest electric plane to date. I've got a 71" Slick (gasser) that I'm getting ready to build with a Mintor 33 powerplant...so you'll be putting together an electric 71" Slick at the same time I'm putting together a gasser 71"...

I agree that a Motrolfly is a good choice motor for this plane...here is a quote from losifanatic about motor/battery choice: .

You know what really sucks about this is the "at least she didn't"....part...because she could have, and it would have been very difficult on you to prove her wrong! Maybe the solution is to keep a camcorder in your garage, and if someone comes up to you again, start the camcorder before you...

I was going to try the bench sander disc approach...but I am worried about 1) keeping them square and 2) keeping my fingers away from the sander disc ;) I have a mitre box and saw, that might end up being more accurate. thanks for the tips, guys.

Gotta get my nylon spacers cut down by 5mm...the 1inch spacers are just a bit too long, they push the Motrolfly 4320 up against the inside of the cowl. Anybody got a good trick for cutting down nylon spacers and keeping them square? (and keeping my fingers intact) ;)
