Discussion Long term planning: Getting into gas

I also disagree with the statement that you should go from electric to glow powered before you go to gassers...just not true. I also (mildly) disagree with the statement that most glow engines are not powerful enough for 3D. I have been flying glow engines for many years and they have plenty...

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

That's pretty much how it is at our field...$65/year plus AMA card. I'm on the club board this year as secretary and it looks like next year I'll be president, so naturally, 3D flyers will be fully represented in our club  We have some retired guys who fly almost every weekday and...

ok, I'll have to admit, the red really pops on this airframe. yellow would be a close second for me...much easier to see (for me anyway) than the blue. p.s. that's a beautiful....red airplane...in your avatar!

Manta, hope your recovery is going well, thanks for the response. The motor is a brand new Motrolfly 4320-400 with an 18x10 protek electric prop and a ZTW 120amp HV ESC running on 6s5000 30C Lipos, also brand new. The easiest place to reach the motor is the back of the motor and the mount/rear...

3DHS --FLY LOW-- Always OFF TOPIC

Tominator has done some excellent RealFlight models; I would venture a guess that everyone on this forum is flying his models on RF 6 instead of the stock ones. Check the RF models thread to get these models, Tom has graciously posted them here so we can find them easily...

Flew another flight on my 65" Vyper this weekend...still came down pretty hot, I guess my cooling mods weren't enough....I put deflector in the chin opening to deflect air up, I think I need to capture more of the chin opening; currently the scoop captures about 1/3 of the opening (I didn't want...

According to what she posted on FG, she flying a low KE when (I think) her low wing tip hit the ground. I don't think this was photoshopped...it was just amazing timing (or a frame capture from the video).

    48" EPP Yak

Sometimes it is the specific combination of motor and ESC that is the problem. Both may work great in other configurations, but together they just don't. One option is to swap one or the other out for another item and see how that affects the situation.
