Mcmaster.com has almost everything you could want for a home shop. I've got a scroll saw that goes through blades and I've been meaning to look into better quality blades also so please post when you find something! Bi-metal is usually the sign of better quality blades with high speed steel...

    Cool Hangin’ in the Hangar

Great thread idea @WMcNabb ! Some years ago I purchased a collection of planes, parts, etc. and in the pile were two Byron Pitts airframes. Neither were salvageable but there were enough parts to use to scratch build a new airframe if you wanted to do that. A gentleman in Texas asked me if...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

credit goes to @tailskid who pointed them out. they're not a high volume manufacturer but the website makes them sound pretty good so I figured I'd give them a try. $45 each is pretty reasonable. but it isn't hard to make a website that will make the product look really good so we'll see.

    Scale Corsair F4U 1/3 scale

I would have loved to have been in the meeting where the engineers reported to the managers that they've run the preliminary numbers and a straight wing won't work......."so what do you recommend?" asked the managers......"A reverse gull wing sir" .....followed by...... silence I imagine it...

    Scale Corsair F4U 1/3 scale

Are you building this for yourself or for a customer? If it's for you, why a giant Corsair? It's cool and all but there's got to be something to it that is personal, no?

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

that all makes sense, and thanks for explaining the difference between standard servo motors and coreless ones, but why would @rusty73 go back to coreless from brushless other than the money he'd be saving?

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

I hope you guys laugh long and hard at me if I end up putting $500 worth of servos in a $100 plane! It needs six for the ailerons and elevators, one big one for the rudder, and one mini for the throttle. I had a stash of pretty high quality servos but they went away as I sold off my planes...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

500??? wowsa I was thinking more like 150 to 200? I'm going to split the big ailerons so I can play around with different flap/aileron mixes so, other than the oversized rudder I shouldn't need more than 200, no? I was thinking something like this...
