    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

Frank got back to me and this is what we're using from McMaster-Carr. The cord I'm using looks like it's probably the 0.038" width, which is about 1mm. I'm going to order some and will confirm this.

They are threaded and nutted... this configuration also gives me the ability to quickly check the connection just by running my finger over the nut to feel the screw end. I've never really been a fan of pull-pull but only one plane I have over 60 inches has a push-pull servo in the tail now, so...

Here's what mine looks like tied off at the servo and CA'd. I also mount the ball links under the arm to reduce spline torque, in case you are curious, but I see no problem mounting them on the high side.

Thanks for that. The cord I have does not have the PVC coating, but as long as it's not too heavy, I don't see the difference. Do you peel back the coating when you tie it off or do you just double thread it through the alum tubing, crimp, and CA?

n/p... Ken's a good name too, all other options considered. :)

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

I got it from Frankjp, and there are a few places you can get it online... but I need to find out from him if it is braided and what the gauge is, because I need more for the next assemblies. One of the reasons why I asked was because I wanted to know what others were using, if they used...

Very kind, considering where most discussions about philosophy are typically moved to. :)

Nice... so it makes sense that when you are tightening the rudder, look at the rudder, and tighten normally -- to the right. Does anyone else use Kevlar for the cable? I drill a hole in the ball link, thread the Kevlar cord through the threaded hole, and out the drilled hole, around the neck...

If I wrote what I did earlier, the way I intended, no one should truly be able to say where I stand on all of this. I enjoy philosophy, and especially those that stimulate debate about how freedom and morality are related. I actually have no opinion on Rand other than that I would disagree...

Did you buy the power system with the 75 Extra? It looked like there was a DM4330 in there, and the power looked like a 12S setup, so I'm curious what the Kv was on that motor. Looks like a sweet plane in my favorite size (at least this month).

LOL... then again, there's that reason to not have one. :)

I really like that configuration and may have to redo some pull-pull systems I already have. I have an idea for a removable rudder system, but it may not be any better the current simple solutions available already, but these components gives me the incentive to try it. Thanks for showing that.

Oh... and every man should grow a beard at least once in their life. It breeds individualism. The worst jobs I ever had were jobs where they made me shave all my facial hair, get a haircut, wear a suit and tie, and basically look like everyone else. I've been running the "show" for a long...

I've been dealing internationally for 37 years and I think I can answer this because I know and work with people from Europe and Asia every day. I once went to Athens to interview an Indian national who worked in England for a Swiss pharmaceutical company for a position in Osaka Japan for a...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

Looks great, Joe. Rob should do one with black stripes, up and down, from the canopy to the stab, and it would look just like a Yellow Jacket. I would then write it off as business expense. Maybe I need to do some "advertising" too. ;)

I don't see the difference between the 3DHS and the EF planes I know shipping costs for. The combined costs are pretty much the same for the popular brands, if you work it by adding the cost of the plane and the cost of shipping and dividing that by the weight of the plane after assembly. Here...

I never saw those before either an can use them often, so thanks, Joe. I'm also out of SWB arms now so the next build will mean restocking servo arms. I bought enough of them for the last three planes from Wrongway but lighter and less expensive is always an option. How are the Secraft...

Jeff mentioned that it was around that, and didn't know how much fuel exactly, and weighed it on a bathroom scale. I'll bet you could not get consistently accurate reading within a pound off a bathroom scale. Plus the difference between two 2S Lipos and an IBEC, three Lipos, and three LiFePO4...

I haven't been around for a while, but here are some of our numbers from the Power thread regarding the MXS, and several contributors made this happen. Since the question was about the gas versions, I'll limit the info to gas setups, but I will say that the electric version (3183g or 7.02...

Well, 'slightly more control authority in high alpha' is the result of what they do... they extend the AoA where the break from laminar to turbulent flow occurs. As long as there is laminar flow, air gets to the control surfaces. When separation occurs, turbulence begins, and along with...
