I would say it has to be at lest an 8ft depth. If you can get a V-nose, then the rudder can stay on. I borrow a 5x8(with v nose) to take to events all the time, and my 100cc planes fit fine.

To answer the initial question: Yes, a servo can burn out a receiver.

    Joe Nall 2014!!!!

Is Saturday still fun, or is everyone packed up by then? I'm thinking about heading up there Friday afternoon. I would be able to get there around 8PM and night-fly, then fly Saturday morning...

I would like to add that those servos should be enough. The only area I would be a little concerned is on the ailerons. If you feel the servos are not enough torque, you can always move the push-rods further in on the servo arms. (I find torque is more important than deflection)

LOL The point rolls are very fast, "lumpy", and uneven. It is really funny how the scale guys don't use rudder. My field has a lot of scale and sport jets (I'd say 20 jet pilots and 60 jets). 90% of the jet pilots don't know how to use rudder so they use complex gyro systems to keep the plane...

I can not for the life of me get the guys at my field to use rudder. The other day, I commented that the guy who was flying wasn't using rudder while TRYING TO DO A POINT ROLL  and I was almost attacked for it. Everyone at my field, even people who claim to fly 3d deem it unnecessary...

With steel cables, I am constantly having to tighten them. I ended up switching to Kevlar cable(doesn't stretch).

WOW, that is just beautiful weather. Little bit jealous. Down here in SOFLO, it has been 95, rainy, and 20mph winds... Saturday, I measured the air temp at the field (100*)

IMAC learning and support using flight videos

As for the counter rotating, it is really preference. Some people like having no p-factor to compensate for, even though it may increase weight. It is a very careful balance to meet weight requirements while still getting optimum performance. Maybe Brian Yak Dude can comment in this.
