Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

The largest airframe I've flown to date has been my 30cc 3DHS 74" Edge. Prior to that has been a 48" 3DHS Edge 540 and my VisionAire. Knowing what I know now after flying the 74" Edge and if you have the means to transport a 60cc size plane to the airfield without needing a trailer, I would go...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

Same DS615 servos? I had the DS615's installed in a 71" Slick and they were really fast and centered well. Never got the 71" plane in the air before I sold it to see how well they performed in the air. You can get the DS615's on ebay usually for a great price for a set of four. A lot of the...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

Understood! When I first got my used 3DHS 74" Edge the previous owner had 2x 7.4v TBM packs installed running through a CC BEC pro since the servos were HS-985 analog servos and couldn't handle the higher voltage. I removed the CC BEC pro and switched over to 1x 2300mAh A123 pack for the Rx...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

That first line is why I purchased a good used 30cc size airframe with good components to start out with as my first gasser. This thread is similar to this thread I started about 30cc & 60cc size airframes. My plan is to use the 30cc airframe as a stepping stone to build up my confidence in...

    74" Edge 540

Nope....Haven't cut the cowl yet. I bought a new one since the original cowl was cut for the DLE-30.

    Aj aircraft 93,73,56 laser

I'm trying to open it in Chrome. Not sure if that's my issue.

    74" Edge 540

Now with the mufflers switched around. Now I just need to finish drilling the prop, assemble the fuel tank, re-install Rx and clean-up the wiring. Hopefully I'll be able to fire it up next week depending on the weather.

Gyro...Can you confirm that address for the subscription for the podcast? When I click on the link I get an error for the XML file.

    74" Edge 540

A little bling to the 74" Edge. WR ti axles and 3.5 wheels and some splats. I like it! Mufflers were installed backwards but didn't realize until I posted the pic.

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

For a CARF 2.3m Edge build I'm doing I'm not sure if I'm going to need the added weight of a thrid battery so I think my best option is to get everything else built-up in the plane, DA70 mounted then check to see where my CG is. The CARF 2.3m Edge is known to come out tail heavy. I would like...

    74" Edge 540

Thanks! This 74" Edge has some miles on it. Once I get the twin broken in the motor will go in a 24% Pilot Edge 540.

    74" Edge 540

So here is my throttle install/setup. Had to cut out the bottom of the Edge to get access to the screws to bolt in the throttle servo. Made a cover plate out of 1/8 ply that I'll put in place once I paint it. Happy with the results. Just need finish the install of the ignition module...

    74" Edge 540

Looks great. I got my JTEC servo boxes the other day but I think I'm going to put the servo in the motor box like you did. That was another option I was thinking about. Did you change the angle on the throttle arm at all?

    30cc and 60cc airframes

Well I'm still questioning if I should keep the 74" Edge or just buy a 60cc size airframe. Reason being is when I flew my 74" Edge for the first time I thought to myself...wow that was easy. I guess all my sim time and flying my foamies and 48" planes has paid off. I'm thinking the 40cc twin...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

10-4. I was thinking that was going to be your setup. I'm trying to decide between the Smart-fly ignition cutoff and run a third battery or the tech-aero and just the two Rx packs. Would just be a weight penalty of the extra 1100mAh ignition pack if I go with the Smart-Fly.

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

What are you using for ignition cutoff and switches? Do you have the sellers name on ebay where you got the spinner? Thanks!

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

Courious to hear how the DLE61 performs. Also where did you get that spinner and what is your setup for your Rx & ignition power?

Extreme Flight 88" Edge -- now with EXP sized horizontal stabs

Well that's a bonus and I've noticed them in the build threads on a few diffrent forums but wasn't 100% sure if it was just some extra's peps have ordered or what was included in the kit. I've figured a better way to make the rudder removable from the info form this thread on a different...

    74" Edge 540

I found the pic on the internet years ago and not sure if it is Hell Michigan. If it was I would get rid of it because I born and raised in Ohio 40 miles east of Columbus and a huge Ohio State fan...LOL!
