    Optical Kill Switch as On/Off?

4 cell NiMH for the ignition with the kill switch as the on/off switch and dual antique on/off switches for the batteries! To the workshop!

    Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

That Brico switch looks interesting but not available in the US. I'm actually leaning back towards just using two of whatever matching switches I have in my parts box. Feel free to smack me when you see me. :msn_slap:

    Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

i rewire the switch so the three balancing wires for the two cell lipo go through a servo type plug and the charging port, the switch uses the power wires. sometimes you have to use a Dremel cut off blade to cut through the circuit board traces that go to the charging port. if anyone wants to...

    Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

I'm a little pissed to find out today that there are people complaining about those Miracle Switches. Was about to order a double with the fuel dot built in. :( Anyone here have first hand experience with them or the Valley View version of them?

Something like this would keep the toggle from flipping off in flight https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/mtllevswitches.php?clickkey=109225 could get heavy pretty quickly.

    Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

the JR switch with the words Heavy Duty molded into the side and that mounts on the side or with the switch pressed through the side of the plane was the only one I opened up today that had a regular name brand switch inside. the MPI one had a small no-name electronics grade switch in it and...

    Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

Seems simple enough but the very popular anodized aluminum toggle style single and dual switches are reportedly problem prone. The old reliable slide style switches are potentially limited to lower voltage systems. Pin style safety switches and .......did someone say remote??? ......switches...

    Optical Kill Switch as On/Off?

I'm not that brave! Not ready to have the same batteries running the receivers, servos, and ignition! I'm a :dancing-chicken:

I'm actually going to avoid the toggle type switches after reading a bunch of comments about them not being suitable for the vibrations of an RC plane. I'd be surprised if those MPI switches aren't good for 7.4 volts since it's more the amps that limit electrical devices and higher volts will...

    Optical Kill Switch as On/Off?

Was ordering radio/receiver switches this morning and thought about using an optical kill switch AND an on/off switch for the ignition battery. I'm thinking the second on/off isn't necessary since the optical kill switch is an on/off switch. The wiring would need a 'y' just before the battery...

was just shopping for a switch myself and there are a lot of threads out there about Miracle Switches that have failed and caused crashes. Back to the old faithful MPI switches for me http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-4.html
