Sailplane Aviation Concepts 1/3-scale Schweizer SGS-233A

Bart, this is my build. Kit #003. Kit #002 was maidened at the Cumberland Summer Soaring event last week. The flying season interrupted my progress but I will be back on it this fall. As for the build, it is very straight forward on fuselage and tail surfaces. The wings on the 1/4-scale model...

Two flights under my belt on the new ASW20...only add a couple of clicks of down, otherwise, it was perfectly straight and true. This model is a home run for Horizon Hobby!

Event Coverage 2015 ~ Cumberland Summer Soaring

Len, Gunny, Steve, Mike, Jeremy, Tom, Cliff, Erich, and Burt all arrived today. Early on, Len helped me mow the field (I think he likes my John Deere) and then the other guys started rolling in. We got in a fair amount of flying and then sent out for Hartley's Pizza for dinner at the field.

We got the hay cut today, so the surrounding hay field will be wide open for those who just can't regulate themselves to runway landings!

Event Coverage 2015 ~ Cumberland Summer Soaring

Sleepy, the night sky is awesome! We generally stay at the field Saturday evening and have a picnic dinner. Flying goes right on into the night. We always have at least several campers who stay at the field for the week. Here is a typical late sunset picture shortly before the blue sky becomes...

Working on getting ready, mowed the grass and making hay so the field and surround will be wide open! Lots of room to land (just in case the runway goes by too quick ;-).

Event Coverage 2015 ~ Muncy Flyers Sky High Aerotow

Date: June 4-7 Place: Muncy Flyers Airfield (located in central PA atop a mountain southeast of Muncy, PA) This was the second year for this event. The local club has a unique field location that lends itself quite well to aerotowing giant scale sailplanes. However, the best part of this event...

Event Coverage 2015 ~ New England Aero Tow

Date: May 14-17 Place: R/C Prop Busters Airfield (located just east of Salem, CT) This is a well established event and one of my favorites! I arrived on Wednesday and departed on Monday so that I could be there for the full four days. It was a wall-to-wall tow fest! I was so busy flying that I...

Event Coverage 2015 ~ Michigan Radio Control Association Aerotow

Date: May 2-3 Place: MRCA Airfield (located just south of Ann Arbor, MI in farm country) This was the third year for this event and the third year that I had the honor of being the primary tow pilot. The field was one large runway that has a wide open overfly area for the 180 sweep of the...
