Got the maiden in on the Sukhoi today. This thing is going to be a beast. Love, love, LOVE it already. This is the first and only flight so far. One click left aileron and she was good to go.

Maiden day and a little playing around with my Hangar 9 3.1M Sukhoi SU26. I am so pleased with the GP Evo 176 twin. Coupled with the Planebender Large Smooth Pipes, this motor has the torque of a Peterbuilt and the smoothness of a Cummins. Not sure the 3W 3D 32x8-14 is enough prop though, This thing is a freaking animal. My gratitude goes out to Randy, (@Spats ) for giving me the confidence and assurance on this awesome setup. My thanks to Dave Sullivan of @Planebender products for making this happen. This thing is by far the sweetest plane and setup I have ever owned. This flying season is going to..."ROCK".

Very nice! No loss of power there. Glad you like the engine, you'll never look back.

I like 'em "BIG"!
Rob you complain about your weather but your flying site a lot better than mine... hee hee I'm jealous..I was wondering, since you stated there is no noise abatement as your club why do you choose to run pipes or cans instead of stock mufflers? You get better performance with them over noise suppression?
I quit complaining. After I seen the snow that Roger @Forgues-Research has. LOL....that would suck. As for pipes and cans? Yes, by far much better performance. On even my DLE 55 that is on my Pilot Edge, I gained 300 rpm. The thing about exhaust is that it is just as important to get it out efficiently as it is to get the fuel charge into the cylinder. Instead of the exhaust just simply being released by the piston at its downward travel, a good exhaust system will help "draw" the spent charge out and as it does, the fuel charge coming into the cylinder is "drawn" in, in a more effective manner. I don't think I will ever go back to stock style exhaust.

Nice flying field Rob.... That Sukohi with the GP engine looks like and sounds like a badass engine....I'm impressed. Is that an RC club you fly at or is that nice asphalt runway used by full-scale planes and you guys just share? Anyway, this time a year I would expect snow everywhere in your part of the world..LOL
Oh did you a Dime's forget it was ZooFebruary? You're gonna mess around and get Earle upset at you....

My avatar made my butt look too big. lol

I'm happy with the performance of my 170 with stock mufflers but it wouldn't be hard to put a set of cans on it if it makes that big of a difference.... I may just give that a try... Thanks

I noticed Limitless Aero is selling GP engines along with MVVS engines now...that 176 evo looked and sounded awesome...don't know why someone would spend the difference for the European engine when that GP engine performs like that.....
