At first I thought you had your plane mixed up with a 30% when it came to batteries and fuel tank. Since you are building it for a purpose I want to see how you make out.

I did the same thing with my IMAC plane. It worked great for competition but it came up short for practice time. I got tired of charging after every 4th flight. Now I have 4000 mAh batteries in there (42%) and I can get 18 minuted of practice every fligth instead of 10. and I can get 5 flights in without worrying about anything. Just a different perspective for you to consider. However I think your set up will work fine for your intended purpose.

I am only expecting to get 2 flights out of a charge.

Taking the canopy off every two flights will give me a chance to check wing-bolts and glue joints.

I will be building a second one later in the year to use for sequence and practice flying. That one will have bigger tanks and batteries.

BTW guys- I probably wont be starting the build until next weekend or the following. I've been pretty tied up with school lately.

It has a tunnel, I don't know if RE-2's will fit. How long are they from header to exhaust port?

With which engine?

CSpaced has a DA-100 with tuned pipes on his, and it fits fine.

Different engines, different pipes and different tuning length makes it has to plan for all combos, but the back stop is easy to remove and modify (balsa).

This is RE-2s on a DA120 with 14 in. headers. Nice linear midrange. DA recommends 11.5" long headers.

I started today with some hinging.

To maintain an even hinge gap, I placed a stack of 7 playing cards in the hinge line at the root and tips of the wing.

I'm using BVM aero proxy for glue. "Strong stuff". Only downside to using it is it takes about 2 hours to set.

To keep glue from getting in the hinges I used bearing oil. I prefer it over petroleum jelly. It is easier to apply and doubles as a hinge lubricant.

I agree with daytona having had four 120's, you will want that 32oz tank at least. 16oz is great for smoke if used sparingly. The 120 is a monster and 16oz of fuel it will not even notice.
You'll want a 32oz for sure with the 120, especially if it's a new motor. I can only get 6-7 minutes max on a da 50 in my p-47... I'd go with a 32, and you can fill it half way, it doesn't make a difference.
