3W Ignition timing manual

@wingburner, did you get a 3w ignition? If you did, the pdf file that is attached to the first post explains how to time the engine. It is TOTALLY different than a C&H or RCExcel ignition. I put a RCExcel on my 106 and the engine is running like it has never ran before other than some minor carb issues.

Hi Thurrman, yes I bought the 3W ignition for the 106. I understand to change the polarity using a rcexl ignition and time it at 28 btdc off the green magnet.

The 3W instructions confuse me a bit. Do I time it at 55 degrees btdc off the green magnet?

Yes, 55 degrees on the green magnet and that should put the red magnet at TDC when you get a spark. If you have the grey magnet then set the grey magnet at 47 degrees and the red magnet should still be at TDC when you get a spark.

Hi guys, I bought a 3W 106CS without an ignition. It has 2 magnets and requires the IIs ignition. I too tried setting it at 28 BTDC with no luck. Got very confused.

So if I understand this right, I should get spark off the second magnet when the engine is at TDC?

Thanks Jack
Which ignition did you get for it?

I can take a pic of my 106 with the IIS ignition and hall sensor location, if that helps.

I want to say that the green magnet should be 1/2 under the hall sensor at TDC......

Ahhhh, I will post a few pics anyways.
