Looking to source some wing bolts. These are for Pilot 50cc, they are a 1/4 x 20, threads are 1 3/16 long. I found them at chief, but they want stupid amount of $$ two ship a couple packs of these things. Anyone know of a different source? Here is shipping options from chief for 8 wing bolts, 2 packs of 4.

  • UPS Second Day Air $34.02
  • UPS Next Day Air $68.97
United States Postal Service
  • Priority Mail $12.28

Give Chief a call and place the order over the phone and tell them to use USPS First class mail and shipping will be about $5. Just got off the phone with them.

Late to the party, but I'll offer an option of what I do. D and B supply, Home Depot or even Lowes. 1/4 x 20 all thread. Comes in 3 inch and 6 inch lengths. Cut to "your" like for fit. Epoxy or if you don't want them permanent, use Blue Loc-Tite on the threads. Next, 1/4 x 20 Nylon wing nuts. Total cost per plane from 50cc all the way up to the big dawgs, about $5.25. Never fight those pesky nylon bolts again. Much easier to get a wing nut on in tight spots. And when tightened against the inside wood of the plane, they will not loosen. Another option? Give me a call, I have about ten zillion of those damn little things. LOL. You can have them free of charge.

I got em finally Rob, took about 4 tries, but got them on phone. Fella said it was a cliche in the system for the outrageous shipping charges online, not sure I believe that, as it's been this way for sometime. Funny thing is they have the lowest price to ship air frames out there. I like the nylon wing nut idea, will see if my not so local lowes/homedepot has this. @Bunky.F.Knuckle I attempted to find these or something that would work, but they had nothing at lowes/homedepot ( I should have tried online ) as the 3 different stores I tried are all more than 60mi round trip, live an learn trying to save a few cents, ended up costing me a few $$ I also tried my not so local Fastenal. I've since added mcmaster carr to my fav buttons, an just let it come in the mail.

Or buy wing bolts from Aztech Aero. I have used alot of them over the years, and really like them. Its just a 1/4-20 or 6mm stud and nut.
Yeah just haven't tried those yet, I think from what Rob described, he's making those from hardware he's getting from lowes. Those would actually make life easier putting these wings on. Very small area to get hand in for second wing bolt

I've used the Secraft ones from Aztech, there pretty nice. I drilled a hole in mine for a hitch pin after a buddy of mine had a couple come off. The stud is aluminum so drilling is easy.
