Yippee! What the postman brought

Postman brought me some new mains for the Red Eagle, an intake tube for the Valach 140 in the Laser, and one of the FEMA prop balancers. The last pic is with a JC Super on it that took me a day to get balanced with the DuBro. I have a feeling this FEMA will be a lot quicker, not to mention a bit more precise as well. I have been wanting one of the FEMA's for some time and finally decided to get it. It was out of stock so I sent an email and waited. I finally got the email it was in stock and the last run, man that was cutting it close but I got.

My friend has one of those balancers. Honestly, I've yet to see him use it. I really think a guy should use the things he has. Otherwise he just needs to give it to someone that "WILL" put it to good use. Maybe my friend will give me his?? Lol

I put a couple more props on it, it is much more accurate, and easier, than any other balancer I have tried.

I really should take more time to balance my props. But since I started running Falcon, I just dont fo it. Falcon props are so close I doubt I could improve on them. Guess it would come in handy now that I one again have some woodies on the "Stangs".

As you know, Falcons are pre-balanced before shipping. And I must say, they are pretty darned close. I have yet to have to change a single one. I sometimes worry about the really big props. Like the 33x11W on my 212 and the 32" props on my bigger dub engines. But so far, every one of them have been right on the money. Truth is, I am quite lazy at times. Balancing a prop is just one more step that must be completed before I can fly. And lets face it, I love, love......LOVE to fly. LOL

Tomorrow I'll throw a 23x8" and a 32x12" Falcon on it and see how they fair. I do know that neither of them has any vibration what so ever on the engines so they must be extremely close. I put both of them on the DuBro and did not feel they needed anything done.

OH you know I would. Thankfully, I know they are true and have never, "NEVER" had a prop strike with any of them. I think my two oldest Falcons are the 32x10 on the 157cs and the 32x11 on the 170. The 32x10 is 6 and the 32x11 is 4 years old. Which brings up a question I have been pondering for awhile. How many of you know if a CF prop should need to be replaced at any time interval? And if so, what time interval is that? I have to say, all my Falcons look as brand new as the day I pulled them from their wrapping or box. I usually do a re-torque twice a year and keep them extremely clean. Anyone have an idea on proper care and usage of these props?

I would imagine keeping them torqued to the proper spec which is much tighter than people that don't use a torque wrench usually tighten them, and a close inspection is about all the average guy can do. Being a body man for decades, I see with my hand. I carefully run my hand over all of it to feel for imperfections. My 28 x 9 1/2 Falcon has I slight crack, for lack of a better term, on one of the tips. It's tiny, and runs width wise about an 1/8" from the tip. I CA'd it and check it all the time, and it doesn't seem to change. I think I hit the tip on my concrete driveway.
