After all these years it is nice seeing something that that engine may make it into.
I am working on it. Yes I have been struggling for 2 years to find a plane for the engine and could not find anything that is suitable. i did not want a warbird, but could not find a suitable sort-plane. So decide to do my own. Maybe not the best decision but time will tell.

Just making progres. Made the special aluminum motor mount bushings. This prevents the plywood from compressing when the bolts are tightened and also keeps the motor blots tight over time. The bushings thickness is 0.005“ less than the firewall. They will be installed with epoxy.

Sorry not much to show just one of those days spend a day in the shop doing all kinds of small things and prepping stuff but not much to show. Got the support blocks made that will hold the plane square and flat to the work bench.

Got the support blocks in place now I can start some building. Got the front in and the 4 main support beams in place. The landing gear gave me some headache, the angles and the way it is tied into the motor firewall was not easy to construct. But it is in place every thing fits but some how I have ended up with about 1/2 a degree of down thrust. Well it staying as is just to difficult to change all the angles and gussets now. A little down thrust is good. It is all tacked in place with sum thin CA everything is square and parallel, so now I can mix up some epoxy and run it down all the edges and faces.
Just dry fitted the side plates to see how it looks this needs to checked and the main wing tube and fitted and all the support rings added good job for tomorrow.

The 2 side plates are installed and glued as far as I can reach, 24 hours from now I will flip it over and glue all the area I could not reach. Then the side plates will be glued in place. The wing tube is in place but not glued in just to make sure it fits in place.. slow going everything concerning the firewall and wing tube support will be epoxied in place so every step takes 24 hours.

Not much changed just flipped the fuselage 180 and made sure that everything was still square and then glued all the connections.that I could now reach. Now that the front section is glued together I have to see if I can blend the built tail section to the fuselage. This could prove to be difficult or not possible time will tell.

Well made enough progress to say that it looks feasible to add the existing tail section to the fuselage. This tail section should save me a lot of work and time. It is 80% in place. Now I have to get the tail section aligned in 3 planes which Is going to take a few days to get it correct.
