I use fans on my Roto 85 because they don't want to restart after sitting for a short period after landing. Temps are fine in the air however.

Is the fan build into the plane or is it an external fan. What I did see a number of years back at JoeNul they had twin fans hanging on the front of the cowl blowing cool air into the cowl, interesting fortunately I has not needed one so far..

Making slow progress. Received my landing from Spain, looks good and to was a special one made for me. It is carbon fibreglass combination. Be interesting to see how it works.

Well not much to show for a couple of long difficult days, but the blocks of balsa are in place with no gaps, all the joints nicely fitted. now reinstall and blend the bottom cowl shape to the front nose section. Then I can work on all the air ducts inside the bottom cowl. Getting the to all 3 cylinders cooled and then getting the hot air out the other side. I have decided to make the carburetor side the cool side. More difficult but cool air to the carburetor will pay off in the long run. Also cool air in the carburetors also adds to the engine cooling.

Well if you need something to pass a lot of time try air baffling a 3 cylinder Kolm engine. I think I have all the cardboard pieces cut out and fitting now. All I have to do is use the templates and cut a bunch of pieces of balsa and see if it fits all together. Most important can I still remove the bottom cowl when glued in. I will be glad when this part is done.
@TonyHallo I now understand why you build cowls out of Fibreglass this is taking a lot of time, work and a large amount of balsa wood.. on top of that I am not even close to being done on the cowl.

First picture bottom structure done and all the baffling is done or as good as I could do it.
Second picture bottom half came off and I could get it back on. Now all that needs to be done is plank it find a way to fasten it to the top half.
