Got out a little earlier in the week. I have 6 gallons and a little through the engine and just like @Flyrcjoe said it keeps getting better and better. I'm loving the Falcon 28x9.5 prop for great speed AND low and slow 3D. Seems like an amazing combo with the J&A mufflers. Thanks @ericb for the pics:way_to_go:

Terry, what are your thoughts on the ZDZ 112?

I.E. smoothness, starting ease, tuning ease, etc?

I'm considering getting the ZDZ 180 for my Dalton 300. I have some smooth pipes from PlaneBender to go on the motor.

I'm considering getting the ZDZ 180 for my Dalton 300. I have some smooth pipes from PlaneBender to go on the motor.

The 112 has been a blast, just by pure displacement and low end torque it's hard to beat a DA120 for a 35% plane (on mufflers) but the 112 makes up for that in smooth operation, smooth throttle response and equal or better quality. I've been running the ZDZ90 for a couple of months now and really enjoying that one as well.
I don't run pipes and have zero plans to, but from what I understand, a rotary valve does not suffer from back pressure effects from the pipes which basically eliminates the "pipey" effect that ALL pipes have.

The 180 is in a class by itself and the 180+ ZDZ's start even easier than the 90 and 112. I'm running a GP176 in another plane and the input that I've been hearing is the 180 leaves the 176 in the dust. If you have questions give Joe at http://zdzusa.com/ a call and he'll help you out.

Yeah, I've been in contact to see if they could provide headers. The options I'm looking at are DA150/170, 3W 170CS, and ZDZ 180. I was looking at a GP 176 EVO but after some issues I've seen, I probably won't go that route. The ZDZ is attractive because it's more or less in the middle of the price range of what I'm looking at and should be at least close to the power of the 3W or maybe even better.

Yea, I've got a 176 but it's a non-EVO and one of the original ones that came out. I had an EVO and it ate itself up right away, Fergei rebuilt it himself back then and never had issues again. That was more than two years ago now though.

I won't get my 180 going until I build my plane so it will be a couple months at least. If that goes the way I think it will I will have a 176 for sale;)

Seems like most of the video's I've watched the ZDZ's sound much quieter on regular exhausts than other engines.

I've noticed that as well, I can't hear my 90 on a pitts muffler at all in the air unless I'm up by myself. The 112 just has a nice sound but quickly disappears if anyone else is up.
