Extra 330 EPP Full Fuse Coming soon to Aerobeez! Pics!

Hey Everyone... Just placed an order for my Aerobeez EPP extra. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I was feeling confident that I could build this plane on the "cheap"... and not sacrifice too much on the performance. (My budget sucks)

My original thought was to get my hands on the recommended power package for the EF 48" line of planes.. but again.. need to save $$. I have a Turnigy THRUST 55amp ESC in my drawer. Any thoughts? Motors?

Servos:
Was considering the TowerPro MG90D's as an alternative to the HITEC 5065mg's
http://www.headsuphobby.com/Towerpro-14g-MG90D-Digital-Metal-Gear-Sub-Micro-Servo-B-520.htm

Anyone have experience with them....

Any input would be much appreciated... THANKS!!
Can't wait to get the plane!!

An EXCELLENT motor for a great price is the Sunnysky 2820-950:
http://www.buddyrc.com/sunnysky-x2820-950kv.html
It's a good 3s motor with a 13x6.5 prop.
For 4s and a 13x6.5, thy the 800kv version of the same motor.

The Turnigy ESC (or anything Turnigy IMHO) is usually not worth the money since they tend to have issues and zero customer support. Since you already have the ESC,
I don't think there is anything wrong with using it. Id recommend running a separate BEC so that if the ESC fails, you won't instantly lose your plane.

for the servos, I have used those before. They don't center as well as a name brand servo, and also tend to draw more amps (see point about separate BEC above).
They will however work sufficiently for a budget build, and hopefully get you flying while you save up for some nicer servos in the future. You will be able to notice a difference.

Hope this helps, enjoy the plane!

Thanks so much for the response...

Im assuming that if I go with:

.... that I could choose between a 3s or 4s setup?

Thanks again!

Ok... so just so I'm clear.. lol..... I definitely plan on flying 3d with this plane.. with that said, are you thinking the 800kv with 4s, 13x6.5... over the 950kv?

or is the 950kv with 3s suffice? (also with 13x6.5)

I was also looking at the http://www.buddyrc.com/ztw-mantis-45a-esc.html

Im thinking if these are a good choice.. Ill splurge on the servos... as this a better place to put the $$....

The mantis is a great ESC, however id get the 65a. A little overkill is always better for electronics longevity.

My suggestion on the motor is a 13x6.5 prop... and whichever motor kv you need based on planned cell count:
950kv for 3s or 800kv for 4s

I was flying mine around earlier this morning, got a bit close to the earth, and tore off one of the side force generators. I would have thought that it would yaw all over place, been unstable in high alpha, and had weird knife edge with just one SFG on duty. That wasn't the case at all, and I could hardly tell. I'm not saying the SFG have no effect. Last month I flew for a week without them, and put them back on, to get their effects back.
Moral of the story, one is better than none, but more is just nicer.
