I think you are right, that engine needs a bigger plane. 124-126" Carden would be my suggestion. I've seen a 118" Carden with a DLE222 in it and was just nuts. He cut the firewall back like 5" and cowl back 3" IIRC to balance everything out. On the plus side, wind was no problem!

we just had an IMAC contest here in Shreveport, and one of the Basic Pilots had this motor on his airplane. It sounded sweet, and yanked around his comp are with ease. Looked Beautiful.

Hope to put everything together this year and get it flying. Probably will not get it trimmed and set up for contests this year. I will just fly my old AW 260 one more year.

The CARF 330 SC comes with a short firewall to accommodate a 4 cylinder, and it has a motor box extension that sticks on the original mounting surface if you plan to use a 2-cylinder. I had the DA200 in mine, plenty of power for whatever you want to do.

I've been thinking about yanking the Moki out of my CARF Pitts and going with a 3W 220 or DA200... I just miss that 2-stroke power!

Mike, would that be engine #3 on the Pitts?

umm...yep, it would. That plane's almost had more engines than it has flights!

I need to stick with the radial, but I sure do miss the punch that a big 2-stroke has.

I have been flying the 3w 220cs for a couple of years now. It's an insane amount of power and super smooth throttle transition in my IMAC bird. I would say that this engine or any 4 cyl is too big for your 118" Carden. It really needs to be in the bigger Carden pro, dalton 300ml, comp arf, or stretched krill.

The 3w 220 is one of the best engines I've run to date. I've run quite a few props on it and I really like the Falcon 31x14 for IMAC.
Here is a picture of the engine when I was first installing it on my Dalton 300ml
