2-stroke oil,what works,what doesn't

My story.....I have been running Amsoil Saber 100:1 in my fleet of gassers for 9 years now (roughly 10 planes) ...I never switch oils after break in and tuning on the synthetic Amsoil Saber. I always break in the gassers with 32:1 petro (I've used Penzoil and Echo) for roughly 2 gallons then switch to Amsoil 100% Synthetic at 100:1 and retune. I run my engines tuned (Not fat and not lean) I like the power when I want it and running them lean is a recipe for engine failure or constant deadsticks eventually resulting in engine failure (Cylinder scoring or bearing failure). I am no expert but feel as tho I know my birds well enough to sense when one get lazy when it heat soaks in the air to bring it in and make minor adjustments. I have had zero engine failures on Amsoil but I can say reading about others birds getting dirty from the black dots all over this is an issue I do have.....Never really concerned me as It easily wiped off but others claim that the Redline is much cleaner with excellent results...Interesting enough to possibly try it in a bird and maybe switch...Any one here disagree on switching??? Hard to switch from an oil that has treated me so well for so many years but if Redline is "Just as reliable" and "Cleaner"...seems like a win win??

Redline costs $80 per gallon here in good ole' TN. Is Amsoil similarly priced? That may help you decide.

Lol true. I run honda hp2 synthetic. Keeps us more active though lol. Another site I'm on has the same thing up to 2500 ish over there. Not crying giants

Don't switch! My story is similar to yours and I refuse to switch. Cost is a major factor for me and I'm very happy with Amsoil.

I used Redline Racing in the past with good results but had to switch to Stihl Ultra UP as I had lost my source for the Redline locally. Been using the Stihl for 2 years now and have had zero issues and the engines are looking great.

I recently switched to Redline from Aimsoil mainly due to commercialism and the black goo on my planes but it is more expensive and no one carries it locally...have to get it on line. Stihl Ultra on the other hand is pretty much everywhere and I have been considering giving it a try. Just last weekend had a friend at the club loose a bearing in his DLE 55 less than a year old running Amsoil 32 to 1....oil may not be the only factor for dependability and longevity when it comes to our little 2 stroke engines but many thinks it is...

Had a use Da 100 a few years ago that had been run on Amsiol at 100:1 , so not wanting to swich I did the same for over 100 gallons. With no problems at all, due to the unavailability I switched to Redline at 40:1 with no issues.. My thinking is with all the improvements in oil technology now a days, any good brand name is acceptable.
