The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Baffling is extremely important, with it you are forcing more cooling air over the cylinder heads in flight than they will ever be exposed to running wide open on the ground, even just the bare engine itself. I have all of my engines baffled, and as shown, chainsaws and leaf blowers, weedeaters...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Gasoline engines have zero cooling from the fuel, unlike glow/nitro engines, so break-in is exceptionally hard on the engines. The only way to ensure adequate cooling is to actually fly the engine- no harm will ever be done to a brand spanking new gasoline engine if it is flown within its first...

@Snoopy1 does Gaui suggest break-in on a test stand? I know for 2 stroke gas engines that's the worst thing you can do for them, since they don't have adequate cooling.

Man you're a perfectionist. I'd have covered the canopy in matching green masking tape and huck'd it

Most 3D airplanes in the 35% range are capable of well over 100mph sustained level flight. 126mph is easily achievable with the right engine and propeller combination. Some of the 40% composite airplanes have been clocked to nearly 150mph with a good tailwind. But lets not forget the officially...

My guess is the canopy was green originally and was painted red to match the airplane. Probably didn't have any red canopies ready to go.

All of our newer stuff uses 3x8mm now, and the metal geared servos now include an allen bolt. No more fiddling with finding 2.6x8 bolts ;)

I didn't believe it until I investigated further. Wheel must've just barely skipped across the top of the cable. Shocking, wasn't it?

Somehow managed to hit the powerlines this last weekend, I just barely skipped the right wheel off of them. But it was enough to crack the gear plate loose, and crush some of the siding. Pulled the left side loose in January, and now the right side. Didn't even notice until I went to break the...

Flew the Multiplex FunCub last night at the school. Gotta love huge tundra wheels, they plow right through the tall grass like it's nothing :)

Well the Tigerdrive worked great and I was able to get a solid tune on the TRX3.3 over the weekend. Last night I did a little DIY project to power my starter motor. I had a couple of Pulse 2s 5000 packs that I managed to discharge to 0.00v somehow :eek: but was able to recover them :oblong...

I have an older 2.5 TMAXX that I got for free at work in pretty rough shape. Filthy, carb was broken and leaking, engine was so gummed up it wouldn't turn over, air filter was destroyed, etc.. Of course I'm real good at making stuff like factory new when it comes to these things and after a...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Many moons ago when I last ran my Traxxas Revo 3.3 I got fed up with it because it wouldn't hold its tune and never idled worth a damn. Plus it always took forever to start with the "EZ" (yeah right..) start system. I attributed this to low cranking speed and not getting enough heat in the glow...
