Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Yes but it will not be fun. I'm getting close to restarting the project, might be pretty close to finishing the punch list items on my remodeling list. Still need to install gas logs in the fireplace but I do have the logs yet. Thinking I will cover the stab, elevators and rudder first to...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

So just to be certain, you want the threaded portion plus 1/8" past turned down to the diameter of the Robart axle. How would you like the shoulder finished? Square, tapered, or radius? I'm thinking a square end would just butt the Robart housing an look good.

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Sure, you want 1/4" threads turned down to 3/16"? How long do you the 3/16" area to be? Can you make a drawing? I've made 1/4" axles out of 1/4" bolts, turn the head down to 5/16" or so and make it thinner, eliminate the need for wheel collars. The other option is to use 1/4" and 7/32" KS...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Here are the photos of the chip guard for the crossfeed gearing, should keep all the turnings out. Here is the cam lock on the tail stock, bought from the Little Machine Shop. The parts are for a 7 x 14 lathe however the specification said it fits some 9 x20 lathes, possibly but not this one...

What machine are you looking at? That PM 1030 a nice machine that you were looking at.

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Just about every lathe project starts with end facing. I'm really happy with the hack I came up with. I had increased the size of the cross slide handwheel too make facing easier but have since reduced it after adding the power cross feed. I have added a chip guard to the cross feed gearing...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

Robart makes great stuff, you will be happy with it. Not sure about the tail wheel, although Sig is top of the line as well. I learned a lot about building model airplanes from Sig kits I built along the way. Have a Sig Morrisey Bravo kit on the shelf that might be next up on the build list.

OK I understand now, didn't realize the ailerons were foam, you changed to foam?

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

I needed a break from the home remodeling and economy revitalization project for some fun work. Been thinking about adding powered crossfeed to my 9x20 lathe. I extended the worm gear shaft that turns when the feed screw is turning, built a gear train up to the crossslide screw with an...

OK but the wings are built up on this plane, no?

OK what was your thought process for the wings? You used epoxy for the tail surfaces, why which?

    Not my favorite task either.

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I just take the wing to the autobody supply house and let them match the actual parts. I pretty sure latex goes on heavier than automotive paint so I don't think bleed through will be a problem. Make sure you let the primer flash off for a least seven days before putting the latex on, don't...

I like clean and simple as well, looks great!.

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I've painted with latex before on glassed and primed surfaces, then buffed the paint with a buffer, came out real nice I would image one could match covering material. When painting with latex I used gloss finish paint. I normally use base coat-clear coat color matched at the auto body supply...
