EG 100cc Slick 540 from Aztech Aeromodels

Joe, saw you're running the 27x11 now. You mentioned great downline breaking... not something I'd suspect when transitioning from your bigger 29x9 prop. Does the plane really slow down nicely for landing and such as well? Thinking about ordering a 27x11. thanks :)

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

That's awesome Nate. I haven't done anything like that yet, but honestly the maiden of my 104 had a huge pucker factor all of its own. I think I'm going to challenge myself with a moment like yours, except instead of a slow roll, I'm going to do a full throttle KE pass at 2ft. :D disclaimer...

Daniel Holman's first solo flight…. and not the RC kind!

Yep, I do too... I haven't flown GA since 2007. Bummer.... Congrats on your solo Daniel, and nice job getting it recorded! :D

    Redwing 89" Extra 330SC

Should be plenty big enough :) Happy to report my only hinging left is the ailerons. I'm definitely not a fan of hinging, but you do get a nice sense of accomplishment when it comes out nicely.

What I mean by providing two covers, is rather than ship the plane with the cover installed at all, just include the two covers (one for each wing) in the parts box. Completely cover the wing with no holes. Let the end user choose what to cut.

    Redwing 89" Extra 330SC

Continuing to get some work done, a little at a time. Right now, I've got the aileron and rudder control horns drying, and then I'll install the hinges. One thing to note, is that there are three slots available for the aileron control horns in the wings. Following @bbrown2828's...

    Gp-61

It's all personal preference. The idle set screw allows you to mechanically set the idle, so no matter what, the throttle never moves below that point. The down side is it must be done with the cowl off, (unless you have can reach through a port in the cowl) and periodically adjusted for engine...

A little more work done... Both elevators are hinged up. No issues, took about a 2mm gap to get full throw, so I'll put some clear ultracote in the gap later to seal it up. I really, REALLY love the oversize elevators. Also, the metallic blue covering contrasts so nicely with the white, this...

FAA 2014-0396- interpretation of new rule for Model Aircraft

I'm not sure I follow the whole model airplane/helicopter/multi-copter sect as an industry the FAA has complete jurisdiction over... What I think is reasonable: 1- no flying above 500ft within 2mi of an airport, or 1000ft within 5mi. 2- regulation of the commercial industry. However...

    Redwing 89" Extra 330SC

Made some more progress on the airplane tonight... but it took more time than anticipated, so not as much was done as I'd hoped. First, lets talk about the landing gear. It's two piece, and has 4 bolts per side, with a connecting plate for support... it's kinda weird... and to me doesn't make...

Need Assistance In Motor Selection Please!

Frank, probably better for you to explain everything to him yourself: subsonicplanes@yahoo.com or via his website: www.subsonicplanes.com I'm positive he'll be happy to help you. Personally, I'd rather put my eggs into the direct drive basket. Less moving parts = less to break...

Need Assistance In Motor Selection Please!

Frank, I'll be Frank with you (couldn't resist....) and say that the Motrolfly motors from Ken are about the BEST out there, and I've used just about all of them. Usually, he charges an extra $30 to rewind a motor. I'd send him an email directly for a final price quote.

    Aeroplus 35cc / 76" Edge 540 from Limitless Aero

Hey Chuck, did you already buy your servos? If not, then I'd recommend these: http://hitecrcd.com/products/servos/sport-servos/digital-sport-servos/hs-5585mh-economical-high-torque-digital-coreless-servo/product They've got more torque than the 5565MH servo, but do that with a small...

Yeah, that's an easy choice for me now... Plenty of other quality servos out there to pick from, but I'm going with what I know and love. Speaking of... Check these guys out! Tons of torque and speed: Speed @ 6.0V: 0.16 sec/60° at no load Speed @ 7.4V: 0.13 sec/60° at no load Stall Torque...
