It was in the mid 20's with 15-20 mph winds all day the day I cooked it. My smoker is just an electric deal so I had to wrapped up with a couple cheap moving blankets from harbor frieght to keep it from having to work to hard to maintain temp.

rough but fairly accurate wing area pulling measurements from my fusion model and doing the math myself is 2067 sq in. Yes tail parts are sheeted foam. They are designed to be built up but the friend that laser cut the kit for me didn't have any 3/8" balsa at the time to cut so I went the route...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Forget the keystrokes and pick up a space mouse. If you plan to use a 3D modoling software they are worth it. We use the 3Dconnexion brand at work and they are awesome. I'm sure there might be some cheaper options out there as well.

I can't speak highly enough about Fusion 360 for a 3D modeling software. There is a free version for personal use. I think it has some features removed but should have everything you would ever need for making parts for RC airplanes.

You need to come visit me in VA and I can get you a bunch of scraps for lathe practice that otherwise get tossed in the scrap bin at work.

Been plugging away on my design Here is the layout for a GP61 to bolt up on the firewall as well as everywhere wood is exposed I will have to cut away for the Pitts Muffler. Tail surfaces hinged and ready to go. Just need to finish sand and they are ready to cover. First time with landing gear...

Why not 1/16" sheeting on the wings? Especially being foam core it should be plenty strong.
