    72" Extra 330SC

Here's my mess...balance is spot on, very slightly nose heavy with a full tank, perfect at 1/2 tank. I can practically fly for an entire afternoon on one tank.. :p

+1 remove the idle set screw and it's spring. no need for an idle stop. also unhook but don't remove the throttle shaft spring if desired. these carbs must be supplied for many different applications (weed whackers, etc.) I think.

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

Oh no! OUCH sorry to see that. Did the rest of the plane survive OK?

    72" Extra 330SC

Me too! I found it also doesn't like crosswinds too much. I had a storm blow in and give me a full crosswind, probably about 15 mph constant. Had to land at about a 45 degree crab angle! Found out the hard way I like it without the SFG's on windy days.

+1 on the float factor on landings, this plane flies really light, doesn't it?

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

What pray tell, is this tip? Just so I don't have to read a manual for a plane I don't own yet. Thanks!

    72" Extra 330SC

This plane balanced out perfectly for me with two different gas engines (both the DLE and the OS GT), and a push/pull rudder. This is the only plane I've built that only needed one click of trim on maiden. One. It was SPOT ON. No added weight or playing around needed. Have someone help you...

Dremel with a Roto-zip cutter works excellent. No sanding needed. If you get any chipping, just apply masking tape first.

    The Hover

Is it OK to add the snap to hover directions, since it says "need better description"? How about: From a slow-medium speed, level upright flight, kill throttle at the same time as: Left rudder, left aileron, full up elevator ( both sticks in bottom left corners for Mode 2) then as the plane...

Steel wool. If you put that in any of the holes / cracks they may be coming through, they wont' get in again. Of course, if it's the whole shed, that's a different story!

    Cold Weather Flying Tips

I'm using the Dubro's on a 51 Slick and some HK ones on a 72 Extra gasser. The HK ones look a little short but they work great! The Dubros were kinda expensive $24.99 per pair. The HKing ones were something like $7 bucks. The trick I've found is do not tip them up too high, or it will lift...

    Cold Weather Flying Tips

I think you can safely skip the spoon, the rudder steers awesome without it. I've run 3 planes with skis and just the normal tailwheel, and actually the rudder in the prop wash is what I think is guiding it. No damage after tons of flights.

    Cold Weather Flying Tips

Well it's finally noon here and we're up to a balmy 11 degrees. I'm beginning to think the best way to stay warm while flying is to use the sim !

    Cold Weather Flying Tips

Here's a few tips. As I'm writing this, it was 5 below last night and about all of 10 now, so I have to say... it's too darned cold for me to fly! I'm getting soft. Today is cloud cover and that makes it really cold! If the sun was out, I'd probably go for it. Here's what I try to do: I...

    My new 72" 3DHS Extra 330

One thing I noticed was the AR7000 DSM2. I fly spektrum, so I'm not radio bashing or intending to start any wars. But consider upgrading that receiver to DSMX if you have a DSMX radio. The DSM2 can lock out in very rare circumstances, and I've not had my old ones do that, but on this plane...
