    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Not on mine. It was a basic mini lathe. I put one on the spindle side of the carrage, so I can add a DRO in the future. The DRO will go on the tailstock side of the cross slide. I see your DRO is on the spindle side of the cross slide. How has that been working where chips are falling? Does it...

Spent most of the day on snow removal, we've had some big storms roll through, but I had some time tonight to get the carriage gear installed.

Worked on getting the feet done. Took a bit of file work on the rough castings, then the bed was drilled and tapped for 1-72 screws. I dusted off top of the legs at a 3* angle. I cut some 1/4 ply parallels for that. Also dusted the feet flat one it was together. So far so good.

Looks like maybe a pressure turning tool. Could probably be used as a tap guide.

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

Decided to test out my tap guide. Some of the small gears need set screws. It's one of the reasons I needed a tap guide. The tap is a 1-72. Everything worked great.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Been wanting to pick up a tap guide, but decided to give building one myself a try. I used aluminum for this first attempt, as it's easier to work with, and just started making parts as I went along. Don't know if it's to standard, but it does work good.
